Overview:
17
Strengths:Notes:
18
Inside ZoneStrong inside zone pusher who climbs well and creates space. If he can work on sustaining his grip, he could be a nasty run blocking guard at the next level.
19
RedirectingHe knows how to move defenders out of the designated gaps with smooth footwork, a strong upper body, and decent positioning.
20
Length on the InteriorHe utilizes his length advantage very well in pass protection on the interior. With nearly 35" arms, he can usually initiate contact with interior defensive linemen.
21
22
Weaknesses:Notes:
23
Run Blocking GripHe clearly has strong hands. He just needs to learn how to sustain blocks a bit better to take his game to the next level.
24
Hand FightingHands and arms can get deflected by pass rushers, and he is not always quick to reposition his hands. He also will occasionally maintain rather poor initial placement, leaving him more susceptible to pass rush moves. This is one reason why he will probably stay inside in the NFL.
25
Head DroppingHe can get pulled forward too easily with a strong inside rip. This can be corrected if he sits more into his anchor and is slightly less aggressive after initiating contact when pass blocking. His balance when his hands do not make solid contact can also suffer at times.

Game:Takeaways:
29
SMU (09/23/2023)Played left guard all game. Pulls quickly and makes solid initial contact. Could sustain better. Climbs well. Strong interior pusher. Uses length well on pass blocks. Redirects defenders really well on inside zone. Moves laterally into position smoothly. Good flexibility at his size. Quick and effective feet. Hands knocked away by the rusher. Late to stand up power rusher. Good foot reset, but has to sit deeper into his anchor. Rushers can take the edge around him with a well placed long arm. Arms and legs don't always work in unison. Left due to injury.3rd round tape.

Colorado (09/02/2023)Played left guard all game. Quick feet pass blocking. Quick puller with appropriate acceleration footwork.Positions very well on inside zone. Uses length well for a guard. Good drive and target swapping. Again, great inside zone run blocker. Good hooks. Great overall balance as well. Strong fight against power up the gut. Slower response to inside counter. Excellent target swap on pass block. Wide, sturdy base. Whiffed second level block, but still had good positioning. Beat with agility rather cleanly, but still maintained good balance. Definitely more comfortable with him playing the interior. Clearly has long arms and good shoulder internal rotation. Smooth gap pull. Good hand placement.Still 3rd round tape at guard. Definitely not an immediate starter at offensive tackle, but could be for guard.
31
Baylor (11/18/2023)Played left tackle all game. Great hand placement and drive. Hand placement overall looks better this game. Not the most athletic lineman. Consistent inside zone positioning. Head drops too easily. Getting off-balance linearly is a major concern. Not as comfortable on the second level. Hands are too telegraphed. Great combo blocker with excellent length. Decent foot speed. Forward lean is too steep to consistently retain balance. Beat by arm over too easily. Missing blocks too often. Telegraphed hands will be a problem in the NFL. Uses length well.Dropping to a 5th round grade. Definitely not a tackle. Issues will be more exploited in the NFL.

Final Scouting Report:
34
Coleman has played nearly everywhere across the line. He played freshman year at right tackle, sophomore year at left guard with snaps at right guard, junior year at left tackle, and senior year he played both inside and out. That said, he is clearly best suited as a guard despite his large frame. He struggles with lateral movement and speed rush moves on the edge. Unfortunately, he also struggles with interior speed rush moves. He flashes good reps both when pass blocking and run blocking in inside zone, but is too inconsistent with his balance and hand placement to start day one in the NFL. He has a great build and could still develop into a starting guard, but must work on his telegraphed hand placement and sitting deeper into his anchor before he earns starting reps in the NFL.

Post-Combine Update:
