The quick open, make a model and save it test leads me to believe that all will be OK. Will test printing in the near future.

Thanks again............................		yesHad to Read the Forums first to figure out that I COULD NOT use the installer from my Windows drive. I'm actually glad that I read the Forum when I did as I was doing very dangerous things with my system. I was very lucky no harm was done to my Windows system. After that:

1. Download Sketch-Up 8 installer into Ubuntu Download folder.
2. Copy to .wine/c:/installers (installers is a new folder for just for downloaded installers)
3. Install, run, tweak regedit.exe and away I go.

Unfortunately I cannot actually select a template as the controls to do that do not respond. The start sketchup button does work but the application immediately shows a Google Bugsplat screen and offers to file a bug with Google. no

One plugin I really want to use allows ruby code to be composed inside of sketchup, but since it uses html features it is a no go.

I use this program heavily, and I very much dislike using it in windows.		yes

Floating toolbars get stuck to the cursor when you try moving them. They won't stop moving, that is.

Thanks for at least looking into making Sketchup usable through Wine. Much appreciated. 		yes

For example, when dragging the erase tool over several lines, the 1st line is highlighted when the tool passes over the 2nd line. The 2nd line is highlighted while passing over the 3rd, etc. The last line becomes highlighted when the mouse button is released. Then select the orbit (or zoom or other viewing) tool. All of the "deleted" lines disappear from the screen when I begin to drag the mouse to change the view.

Very, very occasionally, a delay seems not to occur and I blink and wonder, "What happened, Am I beginning to imagine things?"		yes

Anytime I draw small parts showing .010" (absolutely typical in mechanical drawing), Sketchup math messes up the drawing. I now have to multiply all my dimensions by 1000 on-the-fly to get good drawings. Sketchup needs to be able to deal with small details.
