Join Pipe using four industry-standard methods (Soldering, Solvent Welding, Threading, and Press/Crimp).
Install and Repair common fixtures (Toilets, Sinks, Water Heaters).
Troubleshoot drainage and venting issues using professional diagnostic equipment.
Comply with International Plumbing Code (IPC) and OSHA safety standards.

Course Goals (skills attained)Students will be able to show competence in:
Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Identification and hands-on use of all manual and power tools.
Copper soldering, PEX crimping, and valve installation.
Understanding Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs).
Installing PVC and Cast Iron.
Fixtures, Appliances, and Gas
Removing/reinstalling toilets, flange repair, and rebuilding faucet cartridges.
Installation of electric/gas heaters and understanding mixing valves.
Threading black iron pipe and testing for leaks in natural gas lines.
Service, Repair, and Testing including Problem-solving and final inspections.
Drain Cleaning & Maintenance. Using snakes, cameras, and jetters.
Troubleshooting "mystery" leaks.
Demonstrate the safe and proper uses of basic plumbing tools, i.e., wrenches, cutters,
reamers, caulkers, measuring devices,
ladders, levels and power tools.
Demonstrate knowledge of the terminology of major plumbing parts.
Demonstrate knowledge of safe work habits and practices and is able to
describe types of job site hazards.
Describe basic plumbing principles and requirements.

The profession offers solid earning potential, clear paths for career advancement through apprenticeships, and specialized opportunities.
In the East County Region the micro data suggest that there is a large gap between number of plumber trainees and number of openings.
Starting wage is $25-35 per hour
