1. ETree Reminder in April for Parents & Caregivers to Call Schools for a PSAT/SAT seat in the Fall

 Given the debacle we've experienced this year, may I suggest the above wish be replaced with: BHS operationalize the administration of PSAT and SATs every academic year. It is essential and foundational to the services of BHS and district. It is ludicrous to even suggest that it is somehow the responsibility of 800 families to call around bay area schools for seats. It's analogous to not having a curriculum and having families call around other districts to borrow their textbooks.

(b) Adding some background info from Grace Yang Sukeforth's Facebook post: Challenges and How We as Parents/Guardians Can Help
For BHS to run the PSAT, it cost about 6K for 350 seats. This includes paying teachers, custodians, etc.
AnnieJae is going to work with Berkeley High School Development Group (BHSDG) to setup an account designated to receive donations for PSAT only, hope to start receiving donation in the next few months. For this year, BHSDG had some money to cover part of the 6K, the rest of the money was covered by charging extra $7 per seat/test.
Another option is if every year there are enough parents willing to commit to proctor the tests, then parents do not have to raise 6K per PSAT. Principal Juan Raygoza has approved that parents who don't have students taking test for that day can proctor.
We can start recruiting for parents to volunteer, get trained, etc earlier rather than later. I’m glad to start the recruiting for volunteers for Oct 2025 next year late Spring or beginning of new school year, but not sure how to keep the volunteer recruiting processing going for future years.
To run the PSAT per test date we need 10-14 volunteers per test date.

Open House: schedule it differently so that small schools present BEFORE teens begin speaking about them with their teachers so that families can join more fully in the conversation BEFORE teens are fully engaged with peers around this conversation. Schedule the night so there are repeat formal presentations from each school. The larger small school presentation feels chaotic. Encourage families to bring their students

11. Abolishing the egging tradition — no kid should be egged,be allowed to egg, and if they do , perhaps enforce community service by making the offender work w/city merchants to clean up the eggs

14. Clean school — esp bathrooms — makes students feel pride in their school. Imagine walking into your work office bathroom and seeing a sink and toilet lids ripped off,no toilet paper or paper towels or soap, and overflowing trash bin.
