linda_kay@roundrockisd.orgNJHSWednesdayBefore School or LunchLibrary/Lecture HallThe National Junior Honor Society was established to recognize outstanding middle school students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. Five main purposes have guided chapters of NJHS from the beginning: to create enthusiasm for scholarship; to stimulate a desire to render service; to promote leadership; to encourage responsible citizenship; and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. These purposes also translate into the criteria used for membership selection in each local chapter. Ridgeview Middle School's chapter of NJHS works on projects to improve our community. We do things such as collecting coins for a coat drive, collecting cans for a food drive, volunteering at the local animal shelter, cleaning up our school, and helping other schools. By doing this we hope to help improve our community. All of our members are chosen by a faculty council based on the tenets of NJHS.
