5 | Year-Round! | Horizons Climbing Program | EVO in Portland and Maine Bound in Orono | We are looking for volunteers to belay climbers during our climbing sessions! Volunteers must get belay certified at the gym they plan to help out at. If you do not know how to belay but are interested in learning we can set up a time for you to take the Intro to Climbing course free of charge! | Upcoming climbing dates found here! |
6 | June - September | Dino Park | AOEC Brunswick, ME | We are seeking volunteers to support the AOEC Dino Park. This includes helping to lead tours on our ¼-mile fully accessible trail with seven life-sized, ultra-realistic dinosaurs! Dates can work around your availability! Sessions will be about 2 hours long. | |
7 | June 13th | Unfied 5k | Brunswick Parks and Rec | Join us for a 5k fundraiser around Brunswick landing. Volunteer positions include trail marshalls, registration, water stations, and more! | Sign up here |
8 | One Friday or Saturday a month, 5-8pm | Parents' Night Out | Varying Locations | Volunteers support children with disabilities participating in games, activities, and crafts so parents can have some time to themselves! 9 | July 23 - 26, 2026 | Wheel Together Retreat | AOEC Carrabassett Valley, ME | Join us for a retreat weekend in Carrabassett Valley! The Wheel Together Retreat is geared towards individuals living with spinal cord injuries. Volunteers will help with weekend activities such as work out classes, outdoor recreation, workshops and more! | *Lodging and meals provided. |
10 | July 13-17th and August 10-14th 12-5pm | Horizons Summer Camp | AOEC Brunswick, ME | Join us for an action-packed week at the AOEC Brunswick Campus! The Horizons Summer Camp is geared toward school-aged youth with autism. Each camper is paired up 1:1 with a volunteer that is with them all week. Activities include nature education, sensory play, recreation, crafts, and more! | *Volunteer stipend provided! |
11 | June - August | Horizons Waterskiing | Petersen Waterskiing, Kingfield | Join us for some fun waterskiing this summer! This includes providing waterskiing support and paddling support. *Lodging and meals provided for overnight camps! | Waterski Program dates found here! |

The goal of the program is to provide a safe and accessible environment for young adults to connect with their peers. Join us at AOEC Brunswick for the Horizons After School Program! Kids will enjoy a variety of exciting activities like dance parties, cookie decorating, and more—all in a safe and creative environment. It’s the perfect place for kiddos to get active, explore their creativity, and have a blast before heading home. | |

17 | Dec 2026 Dates TBD | Horizons Ski Program - On Mountain Training | AOEC Carrabassett Valley, ME | We ask that all Horizons Ski Volunteers join us for a weekend of on snow training at Sugarloaf Mountain! This will equip volunteers with the skills and knowledge to best prepare them for the winter season ahead. We will cover disability awareness and etiquette, provide training on tethering, ski basics, working with individuals with autism, and a clinic of guiding individuals who are blind or visually impaired. | *Lodging, meals, and lift tickets provided. |
18 | Jan - March 2027 | Horizons Ski Program | Sugarloaf Mountain, Hermon Mountain, Camden Snow Bowl, Big Rock, Black Mountain, and Saddleback Mountain | Volunteer will help skiers of all abilities progress their skills on the slopes!
