MFA Course Requirements

These are the current requirements. The University Bulletin listings are incorrect.

Grad Seminar in Photo ART 8601 (Fall) and 8602 (Spring)

This is a 3 credit course, required each of your four semesters.

Grad Projects in Photo ART 8683 (Fall) and 8684 (Spring)

Normally, you take Grad Projects for 3 credits each semester. In any given semester you can take the course for few as 1 credit, and as many as 12. In the end, you should have a minimum of 12 total credits.

Electives

Typically these are Studio electives within Tyler but up to two courses can be taken outside of Tyler (and they don't have to be Studio)

Art History

Two of these must be 8000 level and the other two can be 5000 level

TYLE 8001 Graduate Professional Practices (normally Fall, 2nd year)

This is normally taken in the Fall of your second year. There are other alternatives to this course. Teaching in Higher Ed is one such option. There are others that we can discuss in person.
