He was also editor of Bonacker, a collection of sketches and creative writing. He studied at the Art Students League in NY and at the New School of Social Research, and played piano professionally with a jazz band for a while. He painted in a style he called "Loopism," abstract impressionism based on the loop. He taught drawing, painting and composition at Norton Gallery and School of Art in West Palm Beach, FL in the 1950s, and exhibited his paintings in several local shows/galleries. In the 1960s he taught art at Mercer County Community College in NJ. Died in 1982. He was the uncle of actor Sam Waterston. After the war he took a job at the Naval Intelligence Support Center in MD where he worked as a catographic engineer, and became chief of the Terrain Models division. Retired in 1977, died in 1992.
