After the war he settled in Amagansett, Long Island where he was active in an artistic group that included Jackson Pollock and Wilhelm de Kooning. He was also editor of Bonacker, a collection of sketches and creative writing. He studied at the Art Students League in NY and at the New School of Social Research, and played piano professionally with a jazz band for a while. He painted in a style he called "Loopism," abstract impressionism based on the loop. He taught drawing, painting and composition at Norton Gallery and School of Art in West Palm Beach, FL in the 1950s, and exhibited his paintings in several local shows/galleries. In the 1960s he taught art at Mercer County Community College in NJ. Died in 1982. At the museum, he worked as assistant to Ottmar von Fuehrer, the staff artist at Carnegie Tech, from 1935-1939, and then as preparator and sculptor in vertebrate paleontology in 1940-1942. He assisted with the development of dioramas for the Arizona Desert Group and also prehistoric Pennsylvania. In 1938 he created a sculpture of a man on horseback entitled "The Last Arrow," made of a quarter mile of wrapped galvanized wire. He enlisted in 1942 and was in the Army for almost four years, half in active foreign service. He was in the OSS (a wartime intelligence agency) for at least part of the time. After the war he took a job at the Naval Intelligence Support Center in MD where he worked as a catographic engineer, and became chief of the Terrain Models division.
