The estate will be squeezed and blocked up , become a ghetto. Why not build in open spaces near Hackney Marsh instead of blocking the view here and squeezing homes into a tiny space. It will impact mental health to be squeezed in on all sides. Here neighbours since out the back and chat to neighbours in the daylight hours.

Will spoil our community, take away the view. The plan is a no go. May increase issues in our homes. Cannot manage the current estate why would the council grow it. It will take away the sunshine. May create more damp due to lack of sunlight, an issue the council are not dealing with noe. Neighbours take pride in the place it would damage the community. In May also increase the incidents of people misusing the stairwells as it would create a more enclosed space. The council should spend money upgrading the estate, install lifts and security improvements.

Loss of garages & parking
Disruption with building, loss of garage and parking space (I use both). I am also very concerned about the space its self - it is on the busy Kingsland road with only 1.5-2m from traffic; it would not be a nice place to live. I also think that the impact on existing Balndford court residents would be impacted in a detrimental way. Blandford is already the "poor block" on the estate; with an ulgy building, poor drainage and the highest rate of ASB on the estate (barring crack den in Poole/Dorset). If new flats were built at this location it would create a dreadful corridor and impact the views for residents on the first floor and above. I do not think it ould be a nice place to live in, and would make Blandford court an even worse place to live in than it already is.

There are other locations in Hackney for housing that would cause less disruption to residents and yield better results.

Both building works and the noise pollution associated with it
I'm worried structural damage or damage to our property might occur when the drilling starts.
The loss of parking will mean if we need an electrician or plumber, etc. I can't give them parking.

Lockner estate already lack of community space and other services. The number of garages and pram sheds are limited compared to the residential units. The bike hangars are not for exclusive use of residents therefore increasing the number of residential units will stretch even more the quality of life in the estate.
Blandford garages are right next to a very busy street so the quality of the residential units that the Council is trying to achieve will be very low. The noise from the nightlife on the high-street is also to be considered

I do not support the development as I don’t think it’s been thought through for current Lockner residents. We will lose a huge amount of space with our parking area gone, there will be huge disruption and a feeling of a loss of community. I also worry about anti social behaviour increasing with more housing in the area. If the development does go ahead, then they should ensure that more storage units (like the bike sheds) are built and Lockner residents should be give priority, esp people on Blandford who will be impacted the most by the works. And they should ensure that the blocks are painted with no charges to residents (they will get filthy with so much building work) - and that there is more intense cleaning of the estate on a more regular basis during the building works

The garages cannot and are not majority used for cars any longer, more are used for storage or personal items. The council should take back the space but provide garage users with assistance - e.g. pay for 1-2 years of storage at a storage facility. The space should be used to provide housing for those in need, but also some form of community space as part of the deal (assuming the Community flat is re-purposed for housing). Council MUST address long overdue paint works on the estate, have not been attended since I moved in in 2006.

We are loosing valuable space to park our car for a reasonable price .
Being working class , a minority now I would strongly suggest ,judging buy the influx of millionaires into the town , it is unfair as the residents will benefit none at all whilst the developers and council are going to make a tidy huge profit .
Are residents going to be offered first pick on rentable housing at this development?
Is the council going to pay for my parking on the street ?
When can we not just look at the architects plans for the garages and housing but also we should be in a position to challenge the plans if they don’t make sense or the garages space is not being fully utilised.
We should be able to scrutinise the architectural plans on the parking space in general if they seen inadequate !
There’s so many arguments to make and honestly I trust these people absolutely zero percent.

Its a very unsafe state already, open to anyone to do drugs, we have crime, drug issues, and neighbour gangs. This state should be closed to anyone non resident, the garages converted into green spaces. And the current problems, of drainage, water supply, roof leaks, rubbish management, maintenance of paint and public spaces, bike racks installation should be addressed.

The removal of the garages would cause issues for multiple residents who use the space for storage. It would also lead to loss of parking access to all members of Blandford Court, including those without an assigned parking space, as we often make use of the affordable parking ticket vouchers. The loss of driving access would also limit access for emergency vehicles and waste disposal vehicles, which is a great cause of concern. Developments on the garage site would lead to a distinct loss of light, specifically the morning eastern light, to the whole side of the block. As someone who is often required to work from home, I am concerned about the close proximity to a building site and the subsequent noise pollution. In addition, given the limited footprint of the garage and parking site, I am not convinced that the housing that would be provided would do much to improve the housing situation of those already on the Lockner estate who are living in crowded conditions.

In addition to the above, I'm firmly opposed to the trees on Kingsland road (that overhang the garages) being destroyed. I don't see why they would need to be, it would be overzealous. Reassure me on this and I'd be much less opposed - there already aren't enough tree-lined streets in Hackney!
I'd be concerned about the increased populace in the area. We've had problems with crack dens, drug dealing and all the passing trade that involves on the estate. If you're housing families and working people then it's less of an issue.

Depends on answers to my concerns above.
Family homesPrivate rent homesSingle storeyI'm disinclined to support this development but still open-minded. As a homeowner who's lived on the estate for almost 10 years I can see the current state of Lockner isn't great (When was the last time the upper level had a paint job?). If Hackney took better care of what is already here then I would feel more optimistic.
Also, security-wise, it's been a prime spot for anti-social behaviour and adding more people could exacerbate that. Primarily though, I feel very bad for the Blandford tenants, it will be a nightmare for anyone who works from home.

Loss of estate space
Dear Council,

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed construction of new homes at Blandford garages. As an elderly lady, this development would have a significant impact on me and others in the neighborhood.

Firstly, the loss of my garage would pose a significant inconvenience. I rely on the garage to store essential supplies and belongings, and its removal would disrupt my daily life. Moreover, without a dedicated space for my car, I would struggle to find parking in front of my house. This would not only inconvenience me but also my visitors, who rely on the availability of parking in the immediate vicinity.

Additionally, the construction of new homes may lead to increased traffic and congestion in the area. This could further exacerbate the parking situation and potentially create safety concerns, particularly for elderly residents like myself.

I kindly request that you consider the impact on the existing community, particularly the elderly residents who heavily rely on the availability of parking and their garages. Alternative solutions or compromises should be explored to minimize the disruption and ensure the needs of the current residents are adequately addressed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I do not support it because the estate currently has a sense of space and new building will make it feel more enclosed (especially on Blandford) and risks increasing antisocial behaviour. There are already unused commercial properties around the area and a lack of storage (especially for bikes) for people living on the estate.
