15 | Feb 3/26 - NCTC completed the nest tree work from 330 to 630 pm. Here is an update from Randy. They trimmed about 6 feet off the dead limb that supported the original nest and left an 8 foot section that supports the new nest. The post also provides a place for the eagles to perch; a great lookout post. They ran a new 100 foot cable from the ground to camera 2 and tested all 3 cams and mics to ensure they were working well. The old cable has some stree from tension by the expanding nest and growing tree limbs likely pulling on the cam connector so they replaced the entire cable. A big thanks to Kyle and Mathew at S & K Enterprises for going "above and beyond" to get this work done safely and skillfully. Thanks to Clayton for his great technical work and to the NCTC Facility Operations Crew for quickly getting the snow plowed for us. The nest now measures 4 ft X 6ft X 3 ft deep and growing. We are looking forward to eggs being laid here. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
