|Lt. Hank Marlow is a friend, he's a friend next to ya.|
We meet Hank in the opening of the film
-- Crashes on Skull Island
-- Being hunted down by WWII rival
-- Meets Kong
Year go by, and finally! People from the outside world!
PLAY SFX #1
-- How much he values human life - others as well as his own
-- He knows the natives and understands them
-- He longs for his own people, though
-- He gets both the good and the bad...
The plan then becomes to get off the Island, but Hank is hesitant because he doesn't want to leave his "brother" behind
-- Once enemies, now friends
-- He doesn't want to leave Gunpei behind
So when it really matter...because Hank is so accustomed to laying down his life for his friends...it's nothing for him to go back and save Kong.
|Key Text: John 15:13 NLT|
There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
|SFX #1: 46:34 - 46:57|
Lieutenant Hank Marlow of the 45th. Got the ol’ flight suit on for you. You are more beautiful than a hotdog and beer at Wrigley Field on Opening Day. But you’re real.
SFX #2: 1:07:57 - 1:08:22
This man’s name was Gunpei Ikari. If you take away the uniforms and the war, he became my brother. We swore we’d never leave each other behind. Let’s get off this island.
SFX #3: 1:30:40 - 1:31:05
Don’t shoot! | Conrad, which way are we going? | You three need to get back to the boat. It’s that way. Wait for us ‘til dawn. If we’re not back by then, just go. | Heh, you ain’t gotta twist my arm. | Where are you two going? | We’re going to save Kong. | Not without me, pal.
|That I May Win More|
James Conrad / Apostle Paul = Compassion
SOUND BITE 1 - Men go to war in search if things, Conrad. If you had found it you'd be home now.
SUPPLEMENTAL - Isn't it odd? The most beautiful places are the most dangerous... I suppose no man comes home from war. Not really.
SOUND BITE 2 - Your job is finding lost men, right?
SOUND BITE 3 - I'm going to take these civilians back to the boat
|Romans 9:3 NASB |
For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh,
But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them.
1 Corinthians 9:19
For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.
1 Corinthians 9:22-24
To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

|PS Philip Comment on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Compassion and Sympathy | FCC 143||Hey guys! I haven't seen BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, but still checked out this episode. From the way you guys talked about it, it sounded like the Beast's story was in keeping with Matthew 10:39(NET) "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life because of me will find it." Only when his motivations became selfless did he get true satisfaction and freedom. Does that make sense?|
Thanks for the show guys! #muhweeladgimli
