Introduction:

3
The WCSU Local Comprehensive Assessment System provides a coherent, articulated, balanced approach to assessment across the supervisory union. The results of assessments provide data which drive instruction at the individual student and systems level.

WCSU has articulated Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) and the Standards, aligned with the SLO, that describe what students need to know and be able to do as proficiency-based graduation requirements. As we continue to articulate performance indicators for all standards from PreK-Graduation, we will revise this document.

During 2018-19 we intend to revisit some of our literacy assessments given changes in editions and the availability of options. For example, we will explore the newly revised Fountas and Pinnell reading assessment and may explore whether or not there is a role for the SBAC interim assessments in our local comprehensive assessment system.

Finally, and most importantly, the formative assessment practices that teachers utilize throughout their lessons to inform their instruction are the foundation of a strong local comprehensive assessment system.
