"YOUR SCOUTING DATA" COMES FROM TEAM 3324's OWN OBSERVATIONS FROM GREATER PITTSBURGH REGIONAL - DATA MAY BE INCORRECT.
This is team 3324's scouting app companion. This serves 2 primary functions: Compiling YOUR data from scouts, and comparing that data to The Blue Alliance. To use it, here's what you need to do:
|1. Make a copy of this spreadsheet|
|2. Choose a year you want to look at.||Year:||2019|
3. Choose an event you want to look at. Be patient as the events load.
Choose an Event:
|Greater Pittsburgh Regional|
4. Get an API key from TBA, and enter it in the box in RED.
Your TBA API KEY:
|5. Be patient - there are over 100 pulls to TBA on it's first load. It takes a minute to load all of the data.||Event Key:||2019paca|
|6. Look at each sheet and sort the data. Each event has a different number of teams, and it will act odd if you're switching between events. Delete #N/A rows and re-sort the data as needed.|
|7. To use this app to it's fullest potential, fill in the "YOUR Scouting Data" based on what your team observes. Feel free to connect this to a google form so that data collection is easy!||*Note: This app was created after the 2019 season and is optimized for Destination: Deep Space. Years that have different ranking systems such as 2015 do not work as cleanly. Future versions will be created to re-optimize for each upcoming game.|
|Your Scouting Data:|
Paste all of your raw data here. This will calculate averages, including how many points that team supplied for your alliance. It's a good spot to put a lot of "super scouting" data, as well.
|Calculated Team Averages|
This is a workhorse of calculations. It finds high, low, average, and standard deviation of several different things.
All data should be auto-compiled, including pulling team information from TBA.
You shouldn't need to do anything with the sheet except for deleting extra rows and sorting by the column that you're curious about.
|Pulls each match score and alliance from TBA.|
Compares info on each team from "Calculated Team Averages," including Avg Rank, Cycle time, and OPR
Also sees if YOUR Scouting Data shows any team that has done the FULL End game. Only lists the 1st team that is capable of doing so.
|Pulls team rankings, records, and tie breakers from TBA|
Compares info on each team from "Calculated Team Averages" and "Rankings" to try and calculate Strength of Schedule
*Note: Strength of Schedule is VERY heavily weighted. For example, the #1 team ALWAYS has the #1 team (itself) on it's alliance, so it's "strength of schedule" is weighted. Comapre cycle times or OPR for a more realistic SOS.
|pre/superscouting (WORK IN PROGRESS)|
Use this sheet to do event/award specific scouting. It does NOT connect awards to specific events, but does list what awards have been won. Limited to 10 awards and 10 events per season.
|Lists each team's prior events, as well as awards won at those events.|
|TBA Data - Don't TOUCH!|
You don't need to touch this sheet. I didn't hide it so that you can see what it's really doing. The text that is bold is where the ImportJSON function is used. It's pretty neat!
Uses the "ImportJSON" function extensively. This is a custom function, and can be seen by clicking on Tools -> Script Editor.
Thanks to Brad Jasper for making this script open source on GitHub! Source can be found here:

Potential things to add:
-Connecting Match Data to Your Scouting Data to show what alliance member climbed
|team email: email@example.com|
-pre/superscouting - connecting awards to events
-fix match data sorting to sort around playoffs
