PURPOSE: To confirm that the horse demonstrates correct basics, by showing suppleness both laterally and longitudinally, moving freely forward in a clear rhythm with a steady tempo, and readily accepting contact with the bit. Correct geometry and lines of travel should be shown.RIDER #10402-1Link:

Before A

A
Circle left 20m rising trot, allowing the horse to stretch forward and downward while maintaining contact

Shorten the reins

Working trot
Forward and downward stretch over the back into a light contact, maintaining balance and quality of trot; bend; shape and size of circle; willing, calm transitions4.54.5This is your working trot. Becouse the rider has relaxed the feel on the reins the horse is accepting the connection better. However, for the stretchy trot circle this does not show a clear difference of the horse's frame, not stretching either forward or down.

This is a stunning horse that appears to be fairly willing in transitions but was having problems with accepting a steady contact with the bit. it did get better as the test went on but the rider must have a soft, elastic and steady connection giving the horse a place to go. Also, better use of the corners will help the rider with suppleness and preparation for movements. This is a lovely turned out pair!

This is a beautiful and elegant horse! The main issue with todays test was the lack of the horse reaching steadily into a soft and elastic connection. The rider must be steady and at the same time elastic in the contact so the horse has a place to reach to and be so the horse is able to accept the contact with the bit. Also, if the horse is more supple and is able to goes with correct bend into the corners this will also help with accepting contact with the bit. The horse could also show more ground cover in the trot, which happened briefly in the stretchy trot circle. As I stated in the body of the test this was more like what your working trot should be. The last canter circle showed that this pair is capable of a steadier connection. Use these moments to help you get the feel of the horse reaching over the top line into the bit. Remember you want the horse to be active and forward but not quick or hurried. Make sure to prepare well a head of the transitions as well. This pair has the talent to do this test with correct basics required. Good effort!
