INSPECTADENT – UK PDR DOOR GLASS / ACOUSTIC GLAZING GUIDE
2
3
StatusWorking technical reference – audited 2 September 2026
4
Coverage296 UK-market / recent model-generation rows
5
PurposeBefore a door PDR quote: identify whether movable door glass is conventional toughened glass or laminated/acoustic/high-risk glazing.
6
Critical ruleNever assume front and rear glass match. Never assume 'single glass' is automatically safe: modern toughened panes can be very thin.
7
Front riskRED = laminated/acoustic confirmed or strongly indicated; AMBER = trim/model-year/unknown; GREEN = conventional side glass reasonably supported.
8
PDR ruleCheck the top edge and the glass stamp/bug BEFORE wedging. Laminated glass is especially vulnerable to edge/point loading.
9
Pricing cluePublished PDR estimating guidance commonly treats laminated glass as a difficulty factor; Mobile Tech RX hail estimator lists +25%.
10
InspectaDent live note – JAECOO 7Front: Silent/acoustic glass. Rear: single pane observed very thin on 02-Sep-2026.
11
InspectaDent live note – Ford KugaFront: double/laminated observed. Rear: single pane observed noticeably thicker than JAECOO rear, 02-Sep-2026.
12
Primary workflowUse MASTER - UK Glass Guide → filter Make / Model → read Front Door Glass + Rear Door Glass + risk + trim dependency.
13
Evidence policyA = official/model-specific; B = strong official/parts/market evidence; C = reputable secondary/option evidence; D = practitioner/forum/field note.
14
ImportantVERIFY is deliberate. No source = do not guess from price, EV status, vehicle size or 'premium' badge.
