Addition: Where a common name is used for a grouper, it should represent the group as a whole and should not imply that the concept represents a particular subtype or species. Differences in singular/plural form may be used to distinguish the grouper from an individual species when this is supported by the primary references. For example, ITIS lists Rock squirrels as the common name for the genus Otospermophilus, while Otospermophilus variegatus has the common name Rock Squirrel.
