*Illuminate EducationJennifer HurstAre you ready for the Achievement Dashboard?Illuminate Education’s Achievement Dashboard is an information management tool that visually tracks, analyzes and displays key performance indicators (KPI), metrics and key data points to monitor progress towards a district’s goals. Prior to implementing the Achievement Dashboard, it is important that districts have assessed their own readiness for success and to develop a plan to ensure successful implementation.

In this session, participants will assess their implementation readiness by:
1) defining which Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics they would like to track.
2) examining their district’s data readiness for creating effective visualizations.
3) evaluating their staffing capabilities & current processes for successful implementation of the Achievement Dashboard.

Participants will leave with identified next steps towards their own implementation success!

*Illuminate EducationChristopher E BalowCrafting a Comprehensive MTSS Assessment ProgramResearch indicates that MTSS implementations across the country have largely failed in producing significant student performance gains. One of the major flaws identified in MTSS implementations is the lack a comprehensive, balanced assessment program to inform decision-making. This session will provide a systematic approach to this process with the goal of creating an intelligent, efficient and cost-effective system of assessments designed from an MTSS perspective that supports stakeholder decision-making at all levels of the organization. This session will lay the foundation for the development a 3-year plan for implementing a balanced assessment system by understanding the components of a comprehensive balanced assessment system, reviewing current assessment system, completing a gap analysis and analyzing current specific assessments for quality and effectiveness.

In order to do this, several Illuministars (our Illuminate gurus) have started to get creative with form letters. We have created a number of custom reports that can then be easily downloaded into form letters and then provided to parents throughout the school year. Darnall Charter SchoolDr. Consuelo Manriquez, Mary Gonzalez, & Christina TheokasFive Practices for Improving the Success of Latino Students (Book)High schools are a ubiquitous part of American adolescent life and culture and are critically important public institutions. They provide the bridge to students’ futures and have the capacity to change the trajectory of students’ lives. Unfortunately, the data shows stagnant outcomes for high schoolers over time and persistent gaps in achievement for students from different racial ethnic groups. NCUST studied four successful urban high schools serving predominantly Latino students to more deeply understand their school design and strategies that led to their success. We identified five key practices we will discuss in this session. The principals of the four schools will share specific examples of implementation at their school and how they overcame barriers and challenges to academic success and postsecondary readiness for their students. The book the schools are featured in, “Five Practices for Improving the Success of Latino Students: A Guide for Secondary Leaders” will be available during the conference.Other Awesome | Site Leader | District LeaderPanel SessionEquity & Access | Leadership & Culture

Norton Science and Language Academy & Inspirations By Gail LLCToni Preciado & Dr. Gail L. ThompsonPutting Equity into Action: A Case StudySchool climate issues can have negative effects on school leaders, students, teachers, and parents. Climate issues may contribute to low teacher morale, teacher burnout, and teacher attrition, as well as a lack of parent engagement, and especially inequities for historically underrepresented student groups. Furthermore, “School Improvement Plans” often omit the input and voices of important stakeholders, especially parents/guardians, students, and teachers. Therefore, in this session, attendees will discover the process that researchers and school leaders at a local K-8 Charter School used to (1) collect data from several stakeholder groups; (2) develop an “Equity-in-Action Multi-Year Plan,” that was designed to improve educational outcomes for historically underserved students, and (3) learn how the plan was implemented.Teacher | Trainer | Site Leader | District Leader | Other AwesomeInteractive PresentationEquity & Access | Leadership & Culture
