|Inclusive Excellence Submission for|
|The primary goal for inclusive excellence for the Recreational Sports Department is to develop outreach efforts to diverse groups on campus inclusive of gender, age, race, sexual orientation, interests, skills, and abilities through the following strategies: |
•Recruiting and hiring a more diverse staff
Result: increased diversity of student staff from 7.2% (2008-09) to 9.1% (2009-2010); new service staff for 2010-2011 is 22% diverse
•Expanding program offerings to attract more diverse students
Result: expanded table tennis league opportunities; implemented a new table tennis tournament; expanded outdoor and indoor soccer league opportunities
•Soliciting programming ideas from diverse students.
Result: surveyed 280 students in diversity organizations to evaluate current interests and participation and to gather ideas for new activities
•Educating student and professional staff on inclusive excellence
Result: Diversity training was presented by Amanda Goodenough, Campus Climate at fall staff training; professional staff members attended various presentations/trainings throughout the year, both on and off campus.
