15 | In support of strengthening student academic achievement, William H. Ziegler Elementary receives Title I, Part A funds and therefore must jointly develop with, agree on with, and distribute to parents and family members of participating children a written parent and family engagement policy that contains information required by section 1116(b) and (c) of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The policy establishes the school’s expectations for parent and family engagement and describes how the school will implement a number of specific parent and family engagement activities, and it is incorporated into the school’s plan submitted to the local educational agency (LEA). | ||||

Ziegler Elementary will take the following actions to involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely manner in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs, including opportunities for regular meetings, if requested by parents, to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of their child and respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible. | ||||
41 | A parent input meeting will be held in the Spring to solicit parent input into the development of the parent and family engagement policy and school parent compact. This year a “virtual” meeting was held on May 11, 2022 and an in person meeting was held on May 18, 2022. Parents were notified of this meeting through class dojo. Parents will also be recruited to join the school’s SAC and contribute feedback at parent meetings and through our parent involvement survey. | ||||

46 | The Annual Title I meeting is scheduled in the Fall each year on the same night as Back to School Night. This ensures we can reach as many parents as possible. During this time the Principal or designee will make a presentation to parents to inform them of the Title I program. This presentation will include information about the requirements of Title I, parent rights under the law, state academic content standards and assessments, working with educators and how to monitor student progress. During the Winter and the Spring months meetings will be held to give parents the opportunity to review and give input into the following year’s budget and school plan (Winter meeting).
