9/8/2010Basics: Beat Patterns and Prep BeatsLog: Talked about the importance of practicing and how little any of the students had practiced. Announced quiz for Friday, gave questions (all coming from reading, Chapter 3). Talked about the tempo portion of the quiz - students conduct at 60 BPM, 80 BPM, 100 BPM, 120 BPM. Worked patterns in different articulations: neutral pattern, staccato, legato. Discussed prep beat. Practiced prep beat in groups of two, then all members of class conducted entire group in starting.
