I chose this app because it works with both iOS and Android devices, and is a 'polished' app. Use this app to record your hikes (or any other outdoor activities) on a map. Share your trails. Link your trails to other existing local trails. Find your location in the world. Download basemap data. Create waypoits. Much more functionality as well. This tool is excellent for outdoor education because it is a very good way to get students, who are used to being glued to their devices, outside. They can watch in real time as their tracks (aka trails) are being created as the map follows students around in real time as they walk around. The app also creates a cool elevation profile as you walk. This too is a great way to teach geography. It is also very useful for outdoor education (I would consider a GPS app to be almost manditory for outdoor expeditions). This app is very useful for non-classroom applications as well. I created a little intro video for my presentation too, let me know if you want to see it. | Matiss V |
