They can watch in real time as their tracks (aka trails) are being created as the map follows students around in real time as they walk around. The app also creates a cool elevation profile as you walk. This too is a great way to teach geography. It is also very useful for outdoor education (I would consider a GPS app to be almost manditory for outdoor expeditions). This app is very useful for non-classroom applications as well.
