Union is involved in budget decision making. We have input in programs put into use. (We need to have more input in programs chosen and the cost's both monetary and time involved.)We fight for EQUITABLE allocation of resources and we recognize the need to bridge some of the gaps created by disparities in income and access. Our union offers conferences to inspire and improve our teaching
3
NVEA has high expectations of our students and challenge our students to do their best to reach that level. Our union supports teachers so we can support students.site collaboration and professional development support teacher growth and competence, as well as paying teachers competitive salaries, honoring our dedication and hard work!
4
We adopt challenging academic programs. We value communication with students' families and make this a top priority around student progress and support. We provide resources so that students are empowered in their learning.By having access to IBPS, our union supports the needs and grievances of teachers to work out professional issues so they can be totally present and dedicated to student learning.
5
We challenge ourselves and students with higher thinking.Students are exposed to a variety of learning strategies, and teaching methods; students also interact with a variety of professional, talented instructors/adultsEnsure every student has the opportunity to connect and build relationships with attentive, caring, qualified educators.
6
We set high expectations for all students.PLC time for collaborative planning so grade levels provide all students with equitable access to rigorous, theme based instruction. Also, staff PD Wednesdays to provide articulation and coherence across grades. Credentials stay up to date, opportunities for staff development and reflection are always ongoing.
7
We promote a growth mindset for our students and ourselves. We treat all students fairly and equally. No matter what happens today, tomorrow is always a "NEW" day and we as educators help our students to learn from mistakes they make not dwell on them.As educators we give 150% to all students everyday ensuring that the lessons we teach are engaging. We strive for all students to master content being taught.
8
Students can set and achieve personal goals; students become self confident with their own personal skill setsI believe student success is the goal of the entire district but I believe we also need to frame it in a way were success can also mean having a career in trade jobs such as plumbing, mechanics, and careers that will allow our students to feel successful despite not having a four year degree. However, we need to insure that it is the option of the student on where they decide to go, college or work force.Teachers are well trained in 21st century skills, have access to 21st century resources, and provide positive learning environments that encourage students to manage themselves, and their work (BEST, GLAD)
9
We go beyond the textbook or other provided resources to create engaging lessons that build on their interests. We support each other with new ideas and solutions to problems.
10
Teachers are constantly incorporating new strategies to make student engagement a #1 priority. We do this through listening to our students, finding what they express interest in most and building on strengths. We expose them to a wide array of content and bring content to life with our enthusiasm.
