ANALYTICS ROI SCORECARD — HOW TO USE THIS TOOL
3
Replace the example numbers with your organisation's data. The scorecard calculates your total analytics ROI automatically.
4
5
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
6
1Open each input sheet (tabs 1–4)
7
1Each sheet covers one category of return. Work through them in order — Efficiency Gained, Faster Decisions, Margin & Revenue, Risk Reduction.
8
9
2Replace the blue numbers with your own
10
2Blue cells are your inputs. Every other cell calculates automatically. Use your best estimates — conservative numbers are more defensible than optimistic ones.
11
12
3Leave rows blank if they don't apply
13
3Not every row will be relevant for your organisation. Leave the blue input cells blank or zero for any line that doesn't apply — the totals will adjust.
14
15
4Check the Scorecard tab for your total
16
4Once you've filled in the input sheets, the 📊 Scorecard tab shows your total analytics ROI across all four categories with a percentage breakdown.
17
18
5Use the output to build your board narrative
19
5The scorecard gives you the numbers. The story is: "Here is what our data investment is returning, broken into four categories the board can evaluate."

A note on estimates
28
These numbers don't need to be precise — they need to be defensible. Use conservative estimates based on real observations from your team. A CFO presenting this to a board should be able to explain the reasoning behind each number, not just the total. If you're unsure about a figure, use the lower end of your estimate range.
