Welcome to our datasheet on "Rape".
4
5
It examines conviction rates for rape and explores the many complex and sensitive reasons why conviction rates are so low.
6
7
We focus exclusively on crime data and surveys from the UK. This gives us detailed examples of how rape is often handled by victims, police and the courts.
8
9
We feel many of the statistics, especially the surveys of victims attitudes to rape and the legal process, can be applied broadly to situations in other countries.
10
11
Much of this data has been visualized in our graphic: "Rape: A lack of conviction"
12
published on InformationisBeautiful.net in Feb 2013

There's also a lot of supplementary and background data and information we want to share with you.

See the contents list below.

19
We hope this data and the graphic can help increase understanding of this terrible and complex crime.
