Position Summary: The job of Teacher was established for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Teachers will be responsible for administering assessments, keeping and utilizing test data, and grading and reporting on student work.

Qualifications: Licensed Colorado teacher preferred or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and demonstrated subject matter competency and passing score from PLACE or Praxis elementary education content knowledge exam. Must be able to pass a required background check to work with children.

Core Competencies: Core Competencies will include knowledge of federal and state educational requirements including the Colorado Academic Standards (CAS); understanding of traditional and alternative educational methods and approaches; ability to work with a diverse group of people to provide support and information; excellent communication skills to listen for understanding and communicate clearly and respectfully; strong interpersonal skills to build positive and supportive relationships and environments for problem solving and working toward consensus; excellent organizational skills to write, collect, and document data and information; and ability to support and implement VCA mission.
