ffmpegyesyesallcat file1.mpg file2.mpg > file3.mpg && ffmpeg -f mpeg -vcodec copy -acodec copy -i file3.mpg file4.mpgYou may be able to instruct ffmpeg to create .mpg files, then "straight concatenate" them, then merge them together againYou can join multiple video files with this format, keep in mind you need to run this from within the directory with the files ffmpeg - "concat:file1mp4|file2.mp4|file3.mp4" -c copy .\output.mp4seems stable

mplayer/mencoderyesyesNo (by default anyway)allmencoder -oac copy -ovc copy part1.ts part2.ts -o all.tsCannot mix video-only files with audio and video files, but you can use it to transcode the other files so that they have matching video/audio, then use it to merge them togetherhttp://superuser.com/questions/54045/out-of-sync-audio-video-using-mencoderusing "harddup" might help... http://hubpages.com/hub/1001-mencoder-tips

straight concatenate filesindeedyesnoalllinux: cat file1.mpg file2.mpg file3.mpg >> all.mpg
windows: copy /b file1.mpg+file2.mpg+file3.mpg all.mpg
Sometimes this works quite well, especially with mpeg streamsnote that you can't use the "type" command in windows (like type a b > c) because it truncates large files--copy doesn't though--use copy /bhttp://www.ffmpeg.org/faq.html#SEC27
10
virtualdubyesnoyeswindowscan append, but apparently does not process MPEG-2 files at all, which is a limitation

or
vlc go.ps.1 go.ps.2 go.ps.3 --sout "#gather:std{access=file,mux=ts,dst=out.ts}" --sout-keep
or
vlc go.ps.1 go.ps.2 --sout file/ts:out.ts --sout-keep (same thing, as gather is added automatically I think)
# latters seems to lack timestamps
Only appends, doesn't actually concatenate the files, which makes seeking problematic. If your files are of different types, then you'll probably have to also transcode them so that the type matches, though I haven't tried ithttp://wiki.videolan.org/How_to_merge_and_transcode_multiple_videos
