Sample Schedule Notes
81
Biomedical Sciences Requirement Notes:
82
Standing Completion of Biology I (BIO 1200) and Chemistry I (CHM 1440 & CHM 1470) courses at Oakland University with a combined grade point average (GPA) of a B+ in these courses.
83
Note: If you have transferred these courses, proficiency (a minimum grade of “B+”) must be demonstrated by taking at least one other course in each area (biology, chemistry) at Oakland University (OU) to then be evaluated as a part of admission into major standing.
84
Satisfactory completion of the program requires a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in the core courses. Major's core courses indicated in notes column.
85
Students who place into a lower starting math placement than MTH 1441 should anticipate that coursework will extend beyond four years (or involve summer coursework to stay within a four year timeline for graduation)
86
87
Gen Ed Notes:
88
General Education Courses fulfilled within major: NSTN, FR, SS, WCIV, and KA
89
General Education Courses needed outside of major: WF, ART, LIT, LG, GP (WIG and US Diversity *see below note*)
90
NOTE: Students should choose a general education course from an above category that also double counts as fulfilling a WIG and US Diversity. For example, a GP Gen Ed + WIG Gen Ed course or LIT Gen Ed + DIV Gen Ed course
91
92
CAS Exploratory Requirement
93
In addition to satisfying the university-wide general education requirements, all students with majors in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to complete at least three courses outside of their major rubric, for a minimum of 12 credits.
94
A student may select these courses from either of the following: A single rubric of their choosing (e.g., HST, ACC, etc.) or a predefined thematic set of courses identified on the College of Arts and Sciences website.
95
Additionally, earning a double major or degree, completion of a minor or concentration, or completion of honors college requirements (including HC 3900) satisfies the exploratory requirement.
96
NOTE: CAS Exploratory can be fulliled within the major automatically if 12 credits of chemistry coursework is all taken at OU (CHM 1440, CHM 1450, and CHM 2340)
