FAQ, please read it before advancing furtherHow to download .ini file
23
1. Does X Controller Support Macros?
While there are a lot of different controllers that can use macros, this community is creating and sharing macros supported by 8BitDo Software, specifically for Ultimate Software V2.
The following link from the 8BitDo website shows all the controllers that support this specific software: https://app.8bitdo.com/
Here you can also download the Ultimate Software V2 Application that will be used to run the macros: https://app.8bitdo.com/Ultimate-Software-V2

2. How do I Install Macros?
Once you have chosen your preferred macro, there should be an .ini link that you can download to your device.
Find your downloaded file in the folder where you saved it. Navigate to 8BitDo_Ultimate_Software_V2_V1.22\Config\MacroData\Controller\Switch and drop the downloaded .ini here
If you have not opened the Ultimate Software V2 Application yet, now is the time to do it. Connect your supported controller to your Windows, Mac or Mobile system through cable or Bluetooth, and the controller should pop-up on the screen. Select the Switch option on the left.
Now you should have the profile menu in front of you. These profiles correspond to the tiny button with 3 dots in the middle of your controller. Select "Create a new profile" if you do not have any yet, and name it to whatever you would like. After naming it, click on the 3 dots besides the profile name and select "Load to Profile 1".
Click on the profile and then head to "Macros". Your controller should have a few unassigned buttons on the back side that don't do anything at the moment. We will be putting the macros on these empty buttons.
Select an empty slot denoted with "N" and then click on "Create a new macro", then name it how you would like.
Here is where the magic happens. You can create your own macros by recording your button presses on the controller, then click stop whenever you are finished with your inputs.
We want to save an example macro in order to create the folder where the .ini files should be placed. Start recording, mash some buttons, then press stop and save the macro. You can create your own macros when you are more familiar how macros and time intervals work.
If you go back to the root of the Ultimate Software V2 folder, you should find to the following: \Config\MacroData\Controller\ [Your Profile Name]
This folder is where your example macro we just created will show up, and where we will put the .ini files in as well. After you placed your downloaded .ini file(s) in the folder, restart the application and head to "Macros" again. Now when you click on an empty button, you will see the option to "activate" the macro to an empty button of your choosing.
For Mac users, you will have to copy and input the individual button presses one by one from the "Macro Images" in the spreadsheet, since Mac does not support .ini files.
Close the application, and change your controller connection to your Nintendo Switch console. Now, whenever you press the button you assigned your macro to, it will perform that macro. Pressing the same button again will stop this process.

3. "Macro X is not working, help!"
In case a macro does not work as intended, please take a look at the notes for that macro in the spreadsheet first.
Most of the time a macro will have instructions on how to set it up properly, like filtering travel spots, changing your text speed, or adjusting your sensitivity.
When talking about fast travel or fly filters, we mean the options to sort your fast travel locations by pressing +, Y, and then - to get a list of all available filters. Some of the macros might require a certain filter to be applied, so make sure you take note of that!
Some macros also have something called a "failsafe". This failsafe ensures that whenever a macro breaks, does not work, or behaves incorrectly, it will eventually correct its course and fix itself back to its original position. Please give it some time to readjust before you consider the macro to be broken.
If all else does not work, you can ask members for help in the 🎮za-macros-chat. Some macros are updated pretty frequently, so there might be cases where previous versions of macros will not work as intended. A lot of people in there would be happy to help you fix your issue
