4 | San Diego State University | The SoCal IL serves as a hub for place-based, co-produced science that is designed to meet conservation and management challenges. By creating pathways to participation and the implementation of innovative nature-based solutions, we actively promote meaningful collaboration among partners to build a cohesive community of practice. We foster coordination and connectivity rather than competition among partners, together turning barriers into opportunities for actionable science and solutions now and into the future. CCEEJ provides technical assistance to community-based organizations with a wide range of needs, building and expanding capacity around extreme heat, environmental quality and health, energy, env and energy justice. We work directly "The Collaborative of Native Nations for Climate Transformation and Stewardship (CNNCTS) advances a model of Indigenous-led lands stewardship for climate adaptation and resilience. We do this by taking a community-based approach that leverages our local networks and past project success in southern California to support coastal resilience, cultural and prescribed fire, climate-informed restoration, and land rematriation efforts that center community priorities and relationships with the land." We have ongoing activities in the Imperial and Coachella Valley regions. We have expertise and team for developing climate applications using weather prediction model. We have collaborated with community organizations and local stakeholders on the issues of extreme heat, air pollution, and weather prediction. | Academia | Agriculture, Economic/Community Development, Climate, Environmental Justice, Energy, Funding, Natural Resources, Public Health, Social Infrastructure, Transportation | Already Involved | | | | | | I need this | | | I offer this, I need this | I offer this, I need this | I offer this, I need this | https://www.sdsu.edu/ | September 2024 SLECC Meeting, March Catalyst Convening

The United Nations New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities) emphasize the importance of resilient, place-based strategies that integrate ecological, social, and economic considerations across scales. By rooting climate action and sustainable development in bioregional systems, communities can build locally adaptive yet globally relevant solutions. | Academia | Agriculture, Economic/Community Development, Climate, Energy, Funding, Housing, Natural Resources, Public Health, Racial Equity, Social Infrastructure, Youth | Already Involved | I need this | I need this | I need this | I need this | I need this, I offer this | I need this | I need this | I need this, I offer this | I need this, I offer this | I need this, I offer this | I need this | March 2025 Catalyst Convening
7 | University of San Diego, Energy Policy Initiatives Center | EPIC is a university-based energy and climate policy center that has both an academic program and external facing research and analysis role. We do not advocate and as such are seen as a neutral and independent partner in the region. We were founded in 2005 and since then have been done significant work in the region and beyond. Below are a few highlights of our work in the region. We have supported nearly all of the climate action plans in the region. In this role, we have completed the following: GHG inventories and projections, GHG reductions from policies and programs, implementation cost analysis, and benefit-cost analysis. Once adopted, we have supported implementation through policy and ordinance development, including building energy efficiency, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, building electrification, etc. We also support regional GHG analysis for SANDAG, in support of their Regional Plan and EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant project to develop a Priority and Comprehensive Climate Action Plan. We have deep expertise in energy law, policy, and regulation. We also have done lots of analysis of the energy impacts of rooftop solar (and NEM reform), electric rates, building energy efficiency and electrification, transportation energy requirements and the impact of electrification, etc. As part of this work we have developed a method to do hourly analysis of policies and projects to determine the time-based energy and climate impacts. EPIC also pioneered Climate Equity Index analysis in our region - see City of SD and City of Chula Vista indexes. We are also part of the evaluation team for the TCC RICCE project led by SD Foundation and Environmental Health Coalition. We are an original partner on the Southern CA Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN), a CEC-funded project led by Cleantech San Diego. Our role is to advice early stage energy companies to understand and navigate the regulatory and policy issues related to energy and energy technologies. This project serves all of Southern CA, except for LA City and County. Most recently, in partnership with San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative, we launched the San Diego Regional Energy Academy. This is a free, three-day, intensive program to help raise the energy IQ of professionals working in or adjacent to energy and climate. The first cohort was in November 2024 and our second cohort is scheduled for March 2025. | Academia | Climate, Environmental Justice, Energy, Natural Resources, Transportation | Already Involved | I offer this | I offer this | I offer this | I offer this | I offer this | I offer this | | | I offer this | I offer this | | https://www.sandiego.edu/epic/ | September 2024 SLECC meeting
