PURPOSE: Tests provide an introduction to the discipline of Western Dressage; the horse performs only at the walk and jog. The rider should demonstrate correct basic position, use of basic aids, and understanding of the figures. The horse should show relaxation; and harmony between horse and rider is important. The horse accepts the aids and influence of the rider. The jog should be a natural gait within the horse's scope and should demonstrate a swinging back.RIDER #8656-2

25
2ImpulsionDesire to move forward with suppleness of the back and steady tempo.66keeps a steady tempo but is shorttacking and toe dragging in the jog, lacks back suppleness and needs to close the joints of the hind legs and compress and "push" against the ground to spring in the jog and cover ground. Toe dragging is an indication that engagment is not occuring
26
3Rider’s Position, Seat, and HandsWell-balanced elastic seat demonstrating vertical, centered alignment, with light independent contact from hand(s)88
27
4Rider’s Correct and Effective Use of the AidsEvidenced by the horse's responsiveness; steady elastic connection cultivating athletic expression. Accuracy - precise placement of the figures and transitions, the effectiveness of the rider's aids determines the accurate fulfillment of the required movements of the tests77accurate test! Needs impulsion and engagment, ( horse to take weight behind and to utilize the thoasic sling more )
28
5HarmonyThe horse accepts the aids and influence of the rider with attention, relaxation and confidence; and demonstrates a willing partnership between horse and rider resulting in a free flowing performance7.5215very willing to be in a round connection: but is slightly on the forhand today affecting ability to exhibit a freeflowing program ( ground cover, back swing, ease of movements)

This is a lovely test.. and the geometry is very correct and commendable. this rider is quiet and carful with this nice horse! You have asked for additional information which would not normally be on this sheet but is a coaching service: ::: The SI on this horse is not flexing much. At times in this test the left hock closes less than the right. I am thrilled with this horses willingness to be round to your hand but concerned with the short tracking and toe dragging... As a coach I would reccomend a hind limb flexion test with the vet, this horse is not tehcnically unsound from a judges point of view .. but the toe dragging and the momentary lack of clear rhythm in the first step or two of the jog can be strong indicators of developing problems.
