Blitz/Rapid Sections & Prizes

- Players will be placed into groups of 6 based on the USChess published blitz rating supplement
- If the number of players is indivisible by 6, a group can have up to 11 players
- Prize fund is $100 per group (1st place: $60, 2nd Place: $40)
- Note: In the event that a group has more than 6 players, we will add 3rd ($30) and/or 4th ($20) place prizes.

Play-up rules

- Players will be placed into sections based on their published USChess rating supplement for the month in which the tournament starts.
- A player may play up to one higher section.
- Players must be within 300 points of the rating cutoff to play up in higher section, and within 200 points in highest section. Double play-up is not allowed.

(Note: The rating used to determine a player may play up is their published USChess rating.)

Bye Rules

- ½-point Byes are available for any round (maximum 3)
- Byes must be requested at least 1 hour before that round's start
- Changes to the last 2 Rounds byes after Round 3 starts or playing in less than 3 rounds implies any earned prize money will be donated to BAC
- 0-point Byes are available for any round (player must play at least half the rounds to be eligible for prizes)

- A Time Control of G/M +N means each player gets M minutes/game and an additional (increment) N seconds for every move.
- A Time Control of G/M dN means each player gets M minutes/game and a delay of N seconds/move (before the clock starts ticking).
- All players must have a US Chess (USCF) ID to play.
- Notation during game is mandatory
- Clocks are not mandatory but we recommend you bring your own. BAC does not loan out clocks except the last 10 minutes of the round. You must know how to set your own clock to the correct time control.
- Econ players may upgrade to Regular before the tournament begins. (Please note that a change fee and the balance difference will apply.)
