|Hey, come on in. Admission is free. Grab a bowl of popcorn (extra butter, of course) and find a seat smack dab in the middle - It’s time for Finding Christ in Cinema, episode 134.|
I’m Michael, I’m Brenden.
Join us and together we’ll dig deeper into the silver-screen classics of yesteryear as well as the box-office hits of today, we’ll take a closer look at the stories they tell, and see if we find the face of Jesus looking back.
We’re gonna explore the deeper meanings of these films; their plots and their twists; the characters and their choices; and how we can relate them to the gospel of salvation, and ultimately our Christian walk.
You are tuned in to Finding Christ in Cinema on the GCTNetwork.
|OH, AND ANOTHER THING... ADDENDUMS & AFTERTHOUGHTS|
|mh||1) I keep implying that I believe the legendary fight betwixt Dumbledore and Grindewald has yet to happen. I do not know that; I believe that we WILL see a showdown that will take place in this series.|
2) It's "Formal Equivalence," dagnabbit!

|BLT||Compelling and motivated action sequences. - Not my impression from other Star Wars films.|
Excellent character building
An elegiac lament for the galaxy far, far away.
|mh||I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me.|
One of the most misquoted, misapplied, and misused/abused verses in American Christianity:
Philippians 4:13 NASB
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
It is used by high school, college, and professional football players who want to be the star of the team (for God’s glory?); it is used by academics striving to get into ivy-league colleges and devise, invent, and formulate wonderful thoughts, things, and solutions to problems (for God’s glory?); it is used by explorers seeking to discover and conquer mountains, ocean depths, alien terrain, etc. (for God’s glory?); and it is used by those who suffer terrible diseases or injury in order to give them the positive outlook desired to beat cancers, bodily harm, etc. (for God’s glory?).
Is that how Paul expected these words to be used and interpreted? Does ROGUE ONE: A Star Wars Story have an answer?
Chirrut Îmwe and Bale Malbus show us what Paul meant.
• Who are they? | The Guardians of the Whills. Protectors of the Kyber Temple. But there’s nothing left to protect. So now they’re just causing trouble for everybody.
Wookiepedia: The Ancient Order of the Whills was a higher order of beings deeply connected with the Force. They had holy men known as Shamans.
A Shaman of the Whills was a holy member of the Ancient Order of the Whills, having knowledge of the Force.
• Let them pass in peace. Let them pass in peace. The Force is with me, and I am with the Force. And I fear nothing for all this is as the Force wills it. | Hey! Stop right there | He’s blind | Is he deaf?
Cassian is impressed!
• Is he a Jedi? | There are no Jedi here anymore. Only dreamers like this fool. | The Force did protect me. | I protected you!
Locked-up in Saw Gerrera’s cells we get a deeper look into Baze Malbus.
• I’m one with the Force; the Force is with me | He’s praying for the door to open! | It bothers him because he knows it’s possible. | *Scoffs* | Baze Malbus was once the most devoted Guardian of us all. | I am beginning to think the Force and I have different priorities | Relax, captain. We’ve been in worse cages than this one. | This is a first for me | There is more than one sort of prison, captain. I sense that you carry yours wherever you go.
In the finale Chirrut shows what faith looks like (“I fear nothing for all this is as the Force wills it.”). And his ability to die knowing that was what the Force willed brought Baze back into faith so that he, too, could do all things through Christ - including dying.
|Ephesians 3:13 NASB|
Therefore I ask you not to lose heart at my tribulations on your behalf, for they are your glory.
Colossians 1:24 NLT
I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church.
2 Corinthians 4:10-11 NLT
Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies.
Philippians 4:10-14 NASB
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction.
Matthew 5:16 NASB
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Philippians 4:9 NASB
The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

|PS Philip Comment on FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM: One of Us | FCC 133||Welcome back guys, so glad to hear the show again! It's been a while since I saw Fantastic Beasts, but my favorite part was the production design and Dan Fogler's character. I can't recall much else to contribute well.|
I noticed Kubo and the Two Strings showed up on Netflix recently, have you guys seen it and what did you think? Would it be a good film for FCC?
And lastly, seeing as how you guys were gone for a few weeks, I don't think it's unreasonable for me to expect Brenden to come back and give us the punch line for that quiche joke- what gives?
Love the show guys! #muhweeladgimli
