Shanghai EXE Genso Network Guide
2
Explanation of Terminology:
This game is based off of Battle Network and Touhou and uses various terms
used by both series. Here's a small section for newbies explaining
the various words and what they mean.

Battle Network terms:
BN: Shortened version of Battle Network.
PET: PErsonal Terminal. A miniaturized computer with a variety of functions, the
most important of which being to contain their Navi.
NetOp: Short for Net Operator. The human portion of the NetOp/Navi team.
Sends Battlechips to their Navi using the Custom screen during fights.
Navi: Short for Net Navigator. A sentient AI able to walk the electronic world
present in electronic systems in the Battle Network and Shanghai worlds.
Battlechip: Data sent to a Navi by their NetOp using the Custom screen, which the
Navi can then use as a weapon to delete opponents.
Custom: An interface by which a NetOp sends their Navi Battlechip data.
Regular Memory: A system that allows players to choose a chip in their folder as their regular chip. A player can only make a regular chip out of a chip that is at or below their current Regular Memory value; i.e., if the player has 30MB of regular memory, they can choose any chip at or below 30MB as their regular chip, and cannot choose anything above that value. Regular Memory is increased by finding RegUP throughout the course of the game from BMDs(see Mystery Data in this section)and ocassionally hidden on real world objects(see Other tab for info on various RegUP locations). Regular Memory caps out at 50MB.
Regular Chip: A regular chip is any chip assigned using the select button in the player's folder following the rules above. Regular chips will always appear on the player's first turn in any fight as long as they remain the player's regular chip.
SubChip: Items with a variety of effects that can be used to give desired effects to
a Navi.
AddOn: A program that can be used by Navis to enhance their abilities in various
ways. AddOns are limited by the Navi's Hz and Core capacity.
Style: An ability unlocked by Shanghai based on her NetOp's fighting style
that allows her a variety of abilities and strengths. There are 6 Styles in total
alongside 6 elements for each.
Square: The centerpiece of an area's Net space. Generally used as a merchant's
square and a center of communication. Chip vendors, Subchip vendors, Request
boards, Bounty boards, BBSes and Interiors vendors can often be found here.
Net/Cyberworld: A metaphysical "area" in computers and other electronics a Navi
is capable of traversing. The Net is a public area of this space where many
Navis commonly traverse.
Mystery Data: Data found in the cyberworld containing a variety of chips, AddOns,
subchips and other things. Comes in Green(GMD), Blue(BMD) and Purple(PMD)
forms. See System tab, small tidbits section for info on their differences.
Virus: Inhabitants of the electronic world which can cause malfunctions of systems,
but are innocuous most of the time. When compared to Navis, they are more like
wild animals, both in terms of sentience and their tendency to be territorial.
Sprite: A semi-sentient program capable of performing functions to help upkeep
a device's cyberworld as well as it's functionality.
NetBattle: A fight between two Navis in the cyberworld.
Deletion: When a virtual entity is hurt enough by attacks to become mostly
nonfunctional, they are considered deleted. There are various stages of deletion,
with ghost Navi data being the most obvious examples of the earlier stages.
Zenny: The game's form of currency.
Bounty: A mercenary job undertaken by Navis to eliminate a dangerous
opponent in return for Zenny.
Virus Manager: A section of Shanghai's homepage which, alongside virus balls
and Shanghai's henchmen, allow her to capture, domesticate and use viruses
in a fight.
Link Gate: A specialized function on Shanghai's homepage that allows her to
set de facto teleports to other Squares on the net in exchange for money.
Talk to the sprites in any area's Square to realize this function.
Danmaku: Japanese term for bullet hell games. Literally "curtain fire."
Flinch: A temporary state where the player or an enemy Navi can take no action for a short time due to flinching after being hit by an attack. For attacks that do not cause I-frames, it is possible to chain flinch to prevent an enemy from being able to take any action; indeed, some attacks are designed around this idea, such as the BigTyphoon PA. Viruses do not flinch and also do not gain I-frames after being hit.
I-frames: The state after being hit by an attack where Shanghai or an enemy Navi become immune to being hit by most attacks, indicated by blinking. Some attacks do not cause i-frames, and a scant few will ignore this state and be able to attack through it.

Note: Because DeadBody and all the addons used in Star Force mode are accessible via the Number Trader, it's possible to play hard/super hard/max difficulty while also playing DeadBody/Star Force modes by entering the codes to get these items while playing an increased difficulty mode, though the player will have to wait until Kumami's chip shop opens to do so. See the Other tab for codes.

NOTICE:
61
This guide is fanmade one from its old age, and currently being redacted by a fan. I have my real life moments and since I actually play the game to find out more infos rather than analyzing the map data, there can be a lot of outdated infos and such.
62
So, special thanks to lots of fans who comment and give a discussion to give a new, or updated info. You people are practically the one who made this, and I sincerely thank you for all the help.
