18
レベルアップですぜ あんたも せいちょう したもんだYou are trying to learn "Eat", but you can't learn more than 4 moves!AchievementThe original reference is to Seiken Densetsu. The system message pops up when the player character gets enough EXP to level up, and it literally translates to something like "You levelled up, yo. You sure have grown too.", making many players wonder who the heck is talking to the hero, or even worse, to the players themselves.

In the translated version Final Fantasy Adventure, the level up message is simply "Level up! HP/MP recovered!". Since no one would be able to tell that that is a reference based on how generic it sounds, and pretty much no one would catch the original reference in a translated form either, I'm thinking a reference to a different kind of well-known and oft-parodied level up message would be most appropriate as a localization.

オーパーツを巡る旅に出よう。本命は猿の方なので注意。Let's go on a journey of OParts. Note: everyone loves the monkey. (Provisional)AchievementFrom SNES RPG Treasure Hunter G. Reimu, The Destroyer of Worlds!

気付いたら90%の敵が載っていたらしい。
Mega Legends
Reimu and her party of diggers went around doing lots of stuff, and eventually realized they'd filled up 90% of the bestiary, apparently.
Plus Disk AchievementThe title is a reference to Mega Man Legends, and is actually the Japanese subtitle (literally "Adventurous Spirit of Steel") which was lost when the game was localized. The achievement title takes part of the localized game's title to keep the reference. The description is from Mega Man Legends 2, where diggers are a type of occupation where they explore ruins in search of valuable items and ancient technology - except it's considered dangerous enough that a license is required to become one. The job description isn't too far off from what Reimu's group is doing too.

23
ラストリベリオン
レベルを上げてスペルで殴ればいい。
Last Rebellion
Just grind more levels then beat them up. With spellcards.
Plus Disk AchievementNot so much of a reference as much as a complete namedrop. The description highlights why the PS3 game was considered one of the legendarily worst games ever - despite being an RPG, and having a potentially convoluted battle system where you could overcome difficult enemies by hitting their elemental weaknesses, the game also "boasted" an incredibly broken growth curve. The main characters' stats grow so much per level (as an example, at level 1, the main character has 500 HP - at level 50, the HP goes around 53,000) that its practically pointless to use any strategy - grinding and steamrolling is simply the faster and easier option. This was summarized memetically in a Japanese wiki guide for the game, where one of the questions in the FAQ was "I'm having trouble with enemy XXX!" and the answer for most RPGs would usually be long-winded and involve talking about elemental weaknesses, status resistances, weapon types and so on. But for this game, it was simply "Grind more levels then beat them up."
24
コマンドー
こいよレイム!ドーピングアイテムなんて捨ててかかって来い!
Commando
C'mon, Reimu! Throw away the chicken-shit stat-boosters and let's party!
Plus Disk AchievementCommando, the Arnold Schwarznegger movie that gained meme status in Japan thanks to its many "memorable" quotes, this achievement description being one of them. The translation combines a later part of the conversation to be a bit more true to the meaning conveyed in the Japanese-translated version.
25
ドーピングコンソメ宝珠Doping Consomme GemPlus Disk AchievementFrom the manga and anime Neuro: Supernatural Detective, a mystery series. In the 6th chapter of the manga and the first episode of the anime, the murder culprit did the deed as the head chef rejected his idea of including lots of illegal drugs and enhancers into his soup which he christened "Doping Consomme Soup". He eventually drinks it himself and turns as muscley as the Hulk, as the description alludes to.
26
小さなメダルMini MedalPlus Disk AchievementDragon Quest. Mini Medals are generally used to exchange for strong items and equipment, and the Infinity Gems serve pretty much the same purpose. アンタ、黒ネズミになっちゃうわよ。色々と危険じゃない?You'll become a black mouse. The only way you can get us into any more trouble would be if you were to wear a pair of red pants too.Dialogue - 14F Nazrin BP eventNicovideo meme (kind of). Disney was very protective of its copyrights and any videos containing Mickey Mouse would be quickly deleted. This led to any kind of reference to a mouse, or even things like Mickey's signature laugh to be heavily self-censored in videos, and even mentioning its name or any kind of mouse in general can be considered "dangerous" in terms of getting deleted. Nazrin gets this a lot, unsurprisingly.http://detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q12115493597

仲間が増えたよ!
やったね魔理沙ちゃん!
My party's getting bigger!
Way to go, Mari!
Dialogue - After getting your first ally and returning to GensokyoThe reference is to an 18+ manga "Koro-chan" where a little orphan girl called Tae, whose mother had abandoned her, was later adopted by her uncle (her mother's little brother). Upon hearing the news, she holds an imaginary conversation with a teddy bear that her mother left her, where she says "家族がふえるよ!!" (My family's getting bigger!), and the teddy bear "replies" with "やったねたえちゃん!" (Way to go, Tae-chan!). Being an 18+ manga, you may expect that this goes much, much worse than she expects. And you would be absolutely right. (Having said that, don't go searching for it unless you're mentally prepared.)http://dic.nicovideo.jp/a/%E3%82%84%E3%81%A3%E3%81%9F%E3%81%AD%E3%81%9F%E3%81%88%E3%81%A1%E3%82%83%E3%82%93!

アレキサンドライトの欠片Piece of AlexandriteItem - Crafting MaterialFinal Fantasy XI, A rare and precious gem, the color of which shifts between various hues of green and red depending on the light. It was only used in quests and had no selling value.Having played FFXI, that's not quite true - at the very least, it had a very active market among players, each one often going for 5-10k gil at their height (meaning a mythic took hundreds of millions via pure currency - more investment than nearly any other single piece of equipment in the game)
43
練成鉄の欠片Fragment of Refined MetalItem - Crafting MaterialTeam Fortress 2,
44
ミスリルの欠片Fragment of MithrilItem - Crafting MaterialLord of the Rings, It resembles silver but is stronger than steel, and much lighter in weight than either.. The name mithril comes from two words in Sindarin—mith, meaning "grey" or "mist", and ril meaning "glitter".

They were needed to progress further in the bonus dungeons, with the last boss of the last bonus dungeon being the Grand Dragon, the most powerful foe in the game.Changed to GranDragn and Divinegon to match the names in the GB version thanks to space limits.
50
グロウエッグGrowth EggItem - Main EquipmentFinal Fantasy series, The Growth Egg is a recurring item that increases the experience earned by its wearer. The JP description's first line more literally translates to "solve the puzzle of the crabs and Mothra to find where it's hidden". This is because the puzzle to highlight the path to the Growth Egg in FF6 is by reading the inscription of 4 tombstones in correct order. In the JP version the 4 tombstones say "tomo" "yoya" "sura" "kani", to make up "tomo yo, yasurakani", or "Rest in peace, my friend." But if you read it in the wrong order, you might end up with something like "Kani to Mosura", which literally translated is "Crabs and Mothra (the Godzilla monster), and can be pretty confusing.

The official English version localizes the puzzle to "ERAU" "QSSI" "DLOR" "WEHT", or "The World is Square", Square being the name of the game's developer. Since a direct translation of the original Japanese reference would make no sense to English players, I localized the description to instead reflect what the English version's puzzle represents via Christopher Columbus, (one of) the first to theorize that the world was round.
51
チャリオブーツChario BootsItem - Main EquipmentLive A Live
52
ニルダの杖Staff of GnildaItem - Main EquipmentWizardry, a staff forged by Gnilda. It creates a force field "impervious to any physical or magical attack." Persons with good intentions could pass the field, while those with evil intentions could not.I believe this was renamed "Exorcising staff" - 退魔の杖

ミドガルズトゥースMidgard's ToothItem - Main EquipmentDemon GazeDrops from an early-game chest monster which is almost certainly placed to crush unsuspecting beginners, like good ol' Master Light Wings on LoT1.
54
ヨーグルト人形Yogurt DollItem - Main EquipmentShining Force, Jogurt is a small, hamster like creature in Shining series. He is also referred to as Yogurt in the American release of the game. The item description is simply イカス, which actually comes from the background portrait of the character in the Japanese version of the game (http://blogimg.goo.ne.jp/user_image/02/9d/81f747b05ffdb2acd9d66e860f4a49fd.jpg). It means something like "to revive" or "to make use of". However, the english version cleaned it up to remove all traces of it (http://www.shiningforcecentral.com/content/screenshots/files//sf/yogurt.gif), making the reference lost for english players. I replaced it with "Number 1" which is a play on words in that it's both a sarcastic jibe (since Yogurt is by far the worst character) and a reference that all his stats all start at 1 (except movement, which starts at 7.)
55
リザイアの魔導書Nosferatu TomeItem - Main EquipmentFire Emblem series, Nosferatu, called “Resire” in Japanese versions, is a recurring spell of either light or dark magic, depending on the game. It deals damage and heals the user for half the damage dealt.Or maybe just plain "Nosferatu"Armsthrift in FE: Awakening made weapon durability practically a none-issue. Most characters (especially the Avatar) with both that and a Noseferatu tome became gamebreakers, which was entirely needed for the unfairness of Lunatic and above.
56

斥力んMisterepulsionItem - Main EquipmentMagical Taluluto, there was a red ball in this serie that would repulse everything when shouting its name. The blue ball had the reverse effect. The Japanese name in romanji is Sekiryokun, a play on "Sekiryoku" (Repulsion) and the -kun Japanese honorific. I localized the name accordingly to "Misterepulsion".
66
東京メトロノームTokyo MetronomeItem - Main EquipmentGame from AliceSoft called Widenyo, widescreen version of Mamanyonyo, the item in that game was lowering Wind damage by 50%.no official translation from what I can tell. Should you manage to find them all, you can exchange them for an item that allows you to cast magic without having to spend any GEMs!They are called God's Emblem in japanese, but only Emblem in the north american releaseGenerally seems to be referred to as Master's Emblems in English circles, so going with that.
70
荒ぶる1ルピーくんViolent 1 Rupee-kunItem - Main EquipmentNico Nico Douga, popular name for the Flandre's green crystal from an MMD fanfic (I think). (Ok I finally understand what it means now, can't believe it took me that long. Reference to the rupee in Legend of Zelda, which is green, and violent cause of Flandre, -kun cause it's a nickname. I'm dumb.)某東方二次創作フルボイス動画のMMD版で存在感を主張していたフランドールの羽根の緑色の部分の通称。I suggest "Green Rupee" instead of "1 Rupee", as English-speaking players tend to call them by their colours.
71
衛星ホーミングアイEyetrack OrbitarsItem - Main EquipmentKid Icarus: Uprising, These orbitars were once sealed inside a cursed royal tomb. Their homing ability is among the best of any weapon, making them very easy to use. However, they lack in terms of attack power and charge time. It's a pair of eyes, so unless the translated description implies otherwise, it should be plural.

パープルオーブPurple OrbItem - Main EquipmentDragon Quest 3, one of the 6 orbs needed to hatch Ramia, a legendary bird. The purple orb was obtained by beating Orochi. The second reference is to Devil May Cry, where an item called the Purple Orb increased your Devil Trigger gauge.
77
マンガ肉Manga MeatItem - Main EquipmentGame from AliceSoft called Widenyo, widescreen version of Mamanyonyo. A basic item which would increases the character's HP by 10%.Manga meat is hardly exclusive to Widenyo. The LoT2 description makes no reference to anything specific, and the effect is different (a different item gives +10% HP).
78
グレートハンマーGreat HammerItem - Main EquipmentRockman EXE3, known as Mega Man Battle Network 3 in North America. A strong hammer that was needed to go enter some secret areas.

80
ブリキのじょうろTin Watering CanItem - Main EquipmentHarvest Moon/Rune Factory serie, the watering can is a staple item in this game, which can be upgraded by changing its material to increase its capacity and range. The description references how a common meme among JP RF fans is that RF1's main character is essentially a turnip slave to the main female of the game, who absolutely LOVES turnips and always badgers you to grow them (especially if you get married to her).
81
まほうのみなもとSource of MagicItem - Main EquipmentActRaiser, Sources of Magic look like ordinary scrolls. They add one to the Master's MP in the current act.
82
魔導師の霊薬Elixir of MagesItem - Main EquipmentVagrant Story, the Mages one increases MP and the Sages one increases Intelligence. The LoT2 item increases MP recovery, so we can just choose the name that feels the best here

84
プライマルアーマーPrimal ArmorItem - Main EquipmentArmored Core 4, a special type of armor that is able to absorb damage. http://armoredcore.wikia.com/wiki/Primal_Armor
85
ヒヒイロカネの欠片Fragment of Scarlet GoldItem - MaterialThe wiki calls it Scarletite, probably better to use it than Scarlet Gold?Given the item description and the story of the game in general, it likely isn't a reference to Final Fantasy, but instead to Curiosities of Lotus Asia, specifically chapters 6-7, which both refers to the metal as a legendary ore with similar properties to Orichalcum (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%92%E3%83%92%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AD%E3%82%AB%E3%83%8D). Since there is no regularly-known translation for the metal, I've stuck with Scarlet Gold to be consistent with the previous game (Rinnosuke had an attack that was translated as Scarlet Gold Sword, aka the Ame-no-Murakumo/Kusunagi, which are both made of this material)I see, you're right, the description doesn't have anything to do with FF. I also remember it being referenced in the intro, so I'm guessing you've also made the change there too.
86

87
「天空の支配者」のカードCard [Ruler of Heavens]Item - Sub EquipmentTrade & Battle: Card HeroJapan exclusive release, no official english name
88
DX爆猿皇プラモDX Mechamonkey ModelItem - Sub EquipmentBig Bang Age, Big Bang Age is an 18+ "conquest simulation game" from AliceSoft. It granted a similar bonus as the one in Labyrinth of Touhou, offering a sizable increase of +20 Attack. (taken from LoT1 translation notes)Did you change the name for space purposes? Since the name should pretty much be the same as the one in LoT1Both that, and it was technically mistranslated (or rather, misreferenced) in LoT1. Having actually played Big Bang Age after LoT1, the item in question is called the DX Mechamonkey in the english translation patch there, and I added the "Model" part since the original item didn't have the (プラモ) part (Plastic Model, shortened to Model for space reasons).
89
