Craig HiltonI’ve been volunteering for Freegle for a little over 15 years in Edinburgh.  My motivation was (and remains) to play a small part in saving the planet by keeping things out of landfill.  Over time, I’ve grown to love that we also help people get things they *really* need and build communities.

In 2020 I had enough time to contribute more and joined the board.  My background is in technology at the Royal Bank of Scotland.  This gave me (just!) enough skills and experience to take on the role of Freegle Finance Director.  I like to think that we now have a better grip on our finances, but a lot of that is down to our excellent treasurer.

I’ve learnt a huge amount since I became a director and have worked with a people who challenged, educated, motivated and also frustrated me!  It’s been great.  The thing that I’ve most been impressed by is that we are a unique organisation with motivated, engaged volunteers that keep our Freegle groups working well.

I’ve recently retired, so I hope to be able to continue to contribute to Freegle and hopefully do some of the things I promised to do in the last 3 years!
