39 | Raven, although an adult, looks almost like a child, being as small as she is. She has long flowing purple hair, and purple eyes that can gaze deep into the soul, or flash with anger. She usually wears a full body black dress with a pair of black gloves that go up to her elbow, or she can be found wearing a simple purple blouse, and black skirt or shorts. | Raven was born in the Beaulion Empire, into a Military family. The Winterchild family was well known in the past for producing well trained and intelligent commanders. Although these facts are only known to Raven through history books, and the tales of old. The reason for this is because she spent most of her life in the palace serving under Vivienne Duval, the current Empress of Beaulion, as a hand maiden for the Empress' sister, at least for a large portion of her life. At the young age of three her whole family was put to death for treason except for her, as at least one scion of the Winterchild family had to live on. Her parents, aunts, and uncles were selling state and military secrets to the Aurelian Empire, who the Beaulion empire had been having minor conflicts with for years, that was slowly escalating to a full out war. For this treason, Empress Vivienne sent a third of her armies to surround the Winterchild manor, and burn it and those inside to the ground, after sending in a small group to 'evacuate' Raven, as well as some priceless Winterchild artifacts.
From that day forward, Raven lived in the palace spending most of her time with the Empress' sister, and helping her in her day to day life. She was still taught history and other important skills for anyone of high birth. Raven however spent most of her days outside of her lesson reading books about the history of her family, as well as the empire and spending time training her swordsmanship skills. She had read some of the pilfered family books that were taken the night of the assult on her manor, and had been working on some of the techniques her family was known for in the wars. She was able to get a part of it down but the rest was hard to get from the mindset she was being forced into daily as a hand maiden, and all her lessons to become a 'proper lady'. However she snapped one day and when she came to, the training ground was a wreck; that day Raven smiled to herself at finally taking a step into her families legacy. From the age of sixteen on, Raven spent more and more time training with other soldiers for a war that may never come, and less time doing the duties of a hand maiden. She was still forced to spend portions of her time studying politics and similar lessons that she deemed insignificant to her time, as well as having to attend balls and meals with the royal family as well as lords and ladies that visited the palace. However as years passed, she was getting better and better at beating up the other trainees and finally got the courage to ask at the age of twenty for the Empress to let her join the army for a while to see if she liked the life. She was posted at one of the borders of Beaulion and Aurelian to fight off the still minor conflicts that happened every now and again, to see if she would go the same way as her family did before. However, what happened was she took her anger out on the enemy combatants she met for the role they took in causing her to not have a family. Three years battling the enemy had made her realize how much she loved fighting, so when she heard the guild was setting of to explore Qedem, and she heard that the Empress wished she had found the island first; well Raven headed back to the palace to ask if she would be allowed to explore the island. So with a love for fighting, Raven applied to the guild as a guard. The best way to get some time to indulge in her love of combat, and the unknown. | |||||||||||
