TRANSLATION SHEET DEER LORD
2
3
Welcome all to the DEER LORD translation sheet! Here you'll find the text for all the cards in the game, the rules, website excerpt and e-mails
4
Translating the game will make the game more accessible around the world so even more people will have a chance to play DEER LORD!
5
Once a translation is finished, we'll quadrupel check it and start making them into Print & Plays
6
The created translation of the Print & Play will then be sent to you and featured on the website for your fellow citizens to download!
7
8
We also want to tell you how great it is that you are doing this. Now pat yourself on the back a couple of times, read the style guide and set your brain to translation mode!
9
10
11
Important! Please read this style guide before you start translating
12
13

14
no contraction > cannot, you are, etc
15
numbers never in full > 1, 2, 3
16

17
for rewards, just 'loser'/'winner', no 'the' at the start of the sentence
18

19
Question format: 'who is the best at X?'
20
Use the imperative form to indicate actions
21
Always use the same word for 'something'

23
Ordinarily the name DEER LORD should not be translated (but suggestions are welcome!)
24
25
Notes from one translator
26
best -> parhaan (ei parhaimman)
27
best -> parhaiten (ei parhaimmiten)
28
choose a player -> valitsemasi pelaajan...
29
Who can do... -> Kuka pystyy tekemään... (ei kuka tekee...)
30
Write numbers as numbers except in the case of 1 when it's the object (ex. player discards 1 card -> pelaaja hylkää yhden kortin)
31
Players take turns -> pelaajat toimivat vuorotellen (maybe there's a better translation for this?)
32
for a while -> jonkin aikaa
33
34
Most of the sections are translated (except mailing) but there might be a few lines here and there that I couldn't think of a good translation for
35
I've italized the translations that I am not quite happy with (and also left comments about specific stuff)
36
I might've missed some ä and ö since my keyboard doesn't have these letters
37
The mailing list needs a lot of work, I started doing some of the translating but it's mostly direct translating and so the figure of speeches don't work as well as in English. I'm sure someone can improve those
38
My Finnish punctuation might be a bit rusty, so some commas might be at wrong spots or missing
