| As noted in our original blog post, a portion of the airdrop is going to be distributed to DAO treasuries of projects that are live on Arbitrum. One of the fundamental principles of the airdrop was that because it would be nearly impossible for the Foundation to efficiently reach sub-communities, a solution would be to have those communities decide the best way to further allocate the distribution of governance within their communities. |
| |
| Accordingly, only projects that have a DAO and governance token that can control the community treasury were eligible to participate in this distribution. To be clear, this is not intended to be viewed as a retroactive grant, it is intended to localize the governance so that each sub-community on Arbitrum can determine what is best for their contribution to the community. Each protocol knows its community best, and it will be up to the respective DAOs to determine how to distribute governance within their community. It is our hope and intention that by distributing tokens to Arbitrum DAOs, governance power will ultimately be shared with a broader variety of users than just those eligible for the user airdrop. |
| |
| The distribution was based on numerous factors and numerous thresholds within each factor. The main factors included: the date of deployment on the network, whether the project is multi-chain or Arbitrum-native, the number of total and average transactions that each protocol has done, the value of each transaction, the TVL that each protocol maintained, and whether the project moved its native liquidity into the ecosystem. Further factors that were considered included the duration of maintaining success and how that impacted the ebbs and flows of the other criteria. For both projects that were eligible to participate in this distribution and those that weren't, the Foundation will begin their grants programs in the near future and will be an available avenue for further distribution of tokens as deemed appropriate. |
