1	- This data dictionary is to assist you in filling out/interpreting the fields in the ATN Tag Deployment Metadata csv/Excel file. It need not be submitted along with your data.
2	- Please fill out as many fields as possible. The BLUE SHADED fields are mandatory and will be required during initial deployment registration. All dates and times are to be recorded in UTC 24-hour format (ISO 8601). All latitudes and longitudes should reference the WGS84 map datum and be reported in decimal degrees. For help with this form, please contact the ATN Data Coordinator: mmckinzie@mbari.org.

8	RWProjectID	as in: 41726936	Uniquely assigned Research Workspace (RW) project ID. ID will be assigned by the DAC once project is registered within the ATN App and linked to the RW by the ATN DC.
9	ProjectTitle	as in: California White Shark Tracking Project, 2020-2021; format: free text	A descriptive title for the project that includes details such as the species (or animal group) being studied, the general location of the deployments, and the year(s). Same title provided to ATN during project registration.
10	PIEmail	as in: mmckinzie@mbari.org	The email address of the person principally responsible for creating these data (i.e., the PI).
11	DataManagerEmail	as in mmckinzie@mbari.org	The email address of the person principally responsible for managing these data (i.e., the data manager).
12	TagManufacturer	as in: Wildlife Computers	Name of tag manufacturer.
13	TagModel	as in: SPOT6	Tag model as provided by the manufacturer.
14	TagSerialNumber	as in: 17U1237	Serial number assigned by tag manufacturer to uniquely identify tag.
15	TagCalibrationDate	as in: 2019-01-25T02:00:00Z; format: yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ	Date tag was programmed and tested prior to actual deployment in UTC
16	Sensors	as in: external temperature, pressure; format: free text	Types of sensors on the tag (e.g., temperature, salinity, pressure). Select one or more from the provided list, add your own, or choose the no sensors option.
17	TagIDType	as in: ptt_id	Describes the type of identifier contained in the Tag ID field. For satellite tag deployments, default type is ptt_id for this field. If desired, alternative tag id types can be provided within the Alternative Tag ID field.
18	TagID	as in: 123456	For satellite tag deployments, list the Platform Transmitting Terminal (PTT) ID.
19	AlternativeTagIDType	as in: user_defined; format: free text	Describes the type of identifier contained in the Alternative Tag ID field. For satellite tag deployments, default type is user_defined.
20	AlternativeTagID	as in: 20190101	A unique researcher assigned tag identifier or other assigned ID, leave blank if none provided.
21	ArgosProgramNumber	as in: 17654	The Argos program number associated with the reported Tag ID, required for auto-ingested data.
22	WMOPlatformCode	as in: 9901543	The WMO identifier for the platform (tag) used to measure the profile data. If applicable, this id will be provided by the ATN DC.
23	DeploymentID	as in: 613fe35f17e8481060ad5b82	Unique manufacturer or researcher asigned identifier for the deployment of a tag on an animal during a specified period of time, for auto-ingested data a unique manufacturer id will be provided, for manually uploaded data please provide an id (e.g., Animal ID_PTT ID), if no id is provided ATN DC will assign one.
24	DeploymentStartDateTime	as in: 2019-01-27T12:00:00Z; format: yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ	Date and time of when an instrumented animal was released, indicating the start of the deployment, in UTC.
25	DeploymentStopDateTime	as in: 2019-06-24T14:23:00Z; format: yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ	Date and time of when an instrumented animals' deployment has ended, in UTC. This may be the date and time of the last vaild location transmission or estimated tag pop-off or release date. This field is required upon deployment completion.
26	DeploymentLocation	as in: Farallon Islands	Name of the location where the instrumented animal was released. Please refer to a specific nearby point of land, town, island, or body of water that uniquely identifies this tagging location.
27	DeploymentLatitude	as in: 37.70222; format: dd.ddddd; places: to 5 decimals	The latitude of the location where an instrumented animal was released. Use decimal degrees, WGS84 reference system. Note: in the southern hemisphere all latitudes must be negative.
28	DeploymentLongitude	as in: -123.02691; format: ddd.ddddd; places: to 5 decimals	The longitude of the location where an instrumented animal was released. Use decimal degrees, WGS84 reference system. Note: in the western hemisphere all longitudes must be negative.
29	Platform	as in: fish	Type of platform that carried the instrument which generated the sensor data used to create this data set or product. Report either cetacean, fish, flightless bird, land-sea mammals, sea turtle, organism, seabird and duck or unknown. http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L06/current/
30	AnimalCommonName	as in: white shark	Common name of the animal on which the instrument was deployed, as defined by the World Register of Marine Species (WORMS, http://www.marinespecies.org/).
31	AnimalScientificName	as in: Carcharodon carcharias	Scientific name of the animal on which the instrument was deployed, as defined by the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS, http://www.marinespecies.org/).
32	AnimalAphiaID	as in: 105838	A taxonomic identifier. This is a Life Sciences Identifier (LSID), a presistent globally unique identifier for the scientific name of the tagged animal, matches the species id reported within the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) system (http://www.marinespecies.org/). If id is not included, the appropriate id will be automatically assinged by the ATN DAC based on provided scientific name.
33	AnimalID	as in: F0001; format: free text	Identification code that uniquely identifies each animal, as specified by the researcher. This can be a floy tag ID, pit tag ID, or other unique identifier.
34	AnimalLength	as in: 4.88; place: to 2 decimals	Length of animal at the time of instrument attachment.
35	AnimalLengthUnits	as in: m	Specify units used in Animal Length field, metric, leave blank if length is not reported.
36	AnimalLengthType	as in: fork length	Specify type of length measurement reported in Animal Length field (e.g., standard length, fork length, total length, precaudual length, curved carapace length, straight carapace length), leave blank if length is not reported. http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/S06/current/

43	AnimalLifeStage	as in: adult	Life stage of animal at time of instrumentation, appropriate terms will depend on species being studies, e.g., immature, newborn, hatchling, neonate, yearling, pup, pre-weaned pup, post-weaned pup, juvenile, sub-adult, adult, mature. 44	AnimalAge	as in: 12; format: numeric	Age of animal at time of instrumentation.
45	AnimalAgeUnits	as in: years	Specify units (e.g., months, years) for value reported in Age field, leave blank if Age not reported.
46	DataEmbargoUntilDate	as in: 2021-06-25T00:00:00Z; format: yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ	Date the researcher anticipates these data will be available for archive and public release and therefore no longer under embargo. Date typically reported as two years past expected deployment end date, in UTC. See the ATN data policy for more details regarding embargo periods and data release requirements.
47	Comments	as in: shark suspected of being pregnant at time of tagging; format: free text	Any researcher notes or additional comments about deployment.
