7780Digital and Media LiteracyCreate self-designed video games and mixed realities experiences through project-based learning. You will design multimedia using storytelling, graphic design and animation, information visualization, and advanced computational thinking. Projects include an interactive 3D gaming experience playable in virtual and augmented reality, self-designed graphics, and media analysis using retro and contemporary media. The course requires the submission of a digital portfolio with evidence aligned to the Computer Science Proficiency expectations.

7784Fab LabIn this course you will learn the fundamentals of engineering design and woodworking. You will learn to use hand tools and power tools and you will be able to design and build your own projects.

7785Steam StudioLeveraging technology to personalize, engage and create meaningful activities for the 21st century learner. This course prepares our students by offering an opportunity to master content while producing, synthesizing, and evaluating information from a wide variety of subjects and sources. Students' exposure to tools, and opportunities to create borderless learning territories drives investigation, learning how to learn, inspiring creativity, effective communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving. We are teaching our students to go beyond knowing “things” but rather to stay curious about finding things out.

7787TV StudioIn this class you will learn how to film with professional camera equipment, the basics of shot composition, as well as how to use professional video editing software.

7788Shark TankIn Shark Tank you will learn the steps needed to create a working business. Working independently or with classmates you will learn about the various stages of the business development and create your own business / product idea. No experience necessary. At the end of the class you will have a working Business Plan Template and have developed a number of skills that will help you to become more successful at the High School.

7789Marketing and Behavior EconomicsLearn how you can use advertising techniques and social media to create a positive online presence to promote yourself and your interest. Working with your classmates you will learn how marketing is used to affect your thinking and decision making. You will create marketing and social media campaigns to promote the BMS learning community.

7781ArtIn Art class you will try many different techniques and materials as you have a “tasting” of different way to create. You will learn about many different artists and be inspired by their work. While being creative, you will explore painting, printmaking, ceramics, drawing, sculpture and much more. You will plan, practice, create and reflect while sharing your work with your peers and school community.

7782MusicAs an extension to 7th grade guitar curriculum, 8th graders who took acoustic guitar in 7th grade will continue on to explore the electric guitar, bass, keyboard and drums through the use of the 12 bar blues chord progression. Students who did not have guitar in 7th grade will begin with an abbreviated acoustic guitar experience and then onto the 8th grade curriculum. Depending on class size, opportunities may arise for small group playing in a rhythm section.

9980BandBand is an extension of the instrumental music program that began in 5th grade for most. If you are willing to work hard to catch up with the program, you may join the band at any time. It is never too late to participate. Please See Mrs B if you have any questions or need guidance as to what instrument to play.

9981ChorusIf you like to sing and work together with peers in a group setting, this course is for you. We will sing and arrange songs in 3 part harmony in many different styles of choral music including classical, pop, jazz, and contemporary.
