Ice & Vicehttp://iceandvice.com/LESClinton StreetAMAZING! Tried most of the flavors, settled on Milk & Honey which was so good. Their 9am is very strong and had I not been pregnant I would have indulged int hat as well. My husband loved the Basic B. We both got their homemade cones which are fun bright colors (I had the coconut almond macaron which turned out to be pink - Surprise!). Cones did break down easily so get a cup if you get a cone to go!10

Morgensternshttp://www.morgensternsnyc.com/Soho/Bowery2 Rivington StOne word of caution - go during the day to avoid to 45 min line! (I normally do not do lines. But for Morgensterns... yes.) But besides that -- AMAZING ice cream. So many flavors and love how they are organized by ice cream base on their menu. It's a cute shop (you will need to ignore some disgruntled employees) and they only let you have one taste. I had the caramel tahini pretzel with hot fudge and oh boy did it hit the spot. I also tried the black coconut ash (so much sweeter than you'd imagine) and the cardamom lemon jam was also amazing. I also loved the perfect scoops on their cones, perfect for sharing to social. This is my all time favorite spot in NYC. They keep all their ice cream in containers so it's not icy. It does slow down the line, but #worthit.10

Van Leeuwenshttp://www.vanleeuwenicecream.com/West Village + multiple locations152 West 10th StNever thought you'd like vegan ice cream? Think again! Both vegan and dairy options are creamy and the perfect balance of flavor and sweet. Shared a three scooper with my husband which is a great portion for two to share: salted caramel, Peanut butter marshmallow crunch and the winner of the evening: honeycomb. AMAZING. Creamy. Totally hit the spot. I've never had anything like their honeycomb (which has actual chunks of honeycomb in it) - not too sweet and I dont think I can ever order anything else there, except that I will, because they have interesting vegan flavors too which taste just as good for when I'm being good and dairy free (on those rare days).10

Ample Hillshttp://www.amplehills.com/pages/hours-locationsChelsea / BrooklynBubby's High LineWent to the Bubby's location in Chelsea several times throughout my pregnancy since it's so close to my office. Tried their peppermint patty (homemade candies) and it was SO GOOD. So refreshing. Only complaint was there was a bit too much candy mixed in and eventually I got tired of the peppermint filling. This almost made my top 3 favorite spots but the flavors are all stocked with add-ins so you deifnitely have to be in the mood for a dessert when you go here. i've tried almost all the flavors and you need to do the same.9

I was expecting this to be frosty but the ice cream was super creamy! Loved the cookie monster flavor. Ice cream was sweet and one helping was enough for us to split. Dont miss the toasted marshmallow on top! This is definitely a show - takes a while to order and it's pretty chaotic inside but cool to see them roll the ice cream in front of you.8

Emack & Bolioshttp://www.emackandbolios.com/Upper West Side79th Street and BrodwayChocolate peanut butter is dark and delicious; I had the Grasshopper pie the second visit and was not disappointed! Sugar cones are delicious even though they have tons of candy coated waffle cones that we decided were a bit too much sugar-heavy. Love that this is close to us on the UWS.7.5

Milk & Cookies Bakeryhttp://milkandcookiesbakery.com/West Village19 Commerce St, New York, NY 10014HUGE cookie sandwiches. Shared one with Madison and was so glad we split it. Unfortunately the employee helping us was a little rude (how can you be unhappy working in an ice cream parlour!?). We tried the peanut butter cookie and chcolate ice cream and thought they did a great job with both the cookie flavor and the ice cream was the right texture and didnt melt too quickly. Would go back if in the neighborhood but wouldnt make it a destintation. We also had ours rolled in choc chips but the ice cream was so cold that many actually stuck to it which was so disappointing!7.5

Milk & Cream Cereal Barno websiteLittle Italy161 Mott St, New York, NY 10013They have these custom mixers that blend nuts, candies and cereals into youur ice cream, turning it almost in to a soft serve but not quite. Loved having crunch in every bite. We ordered and shared the P-nut jelly crumble which was delicious just very sweet. Worth a try but not something Id go back to all the time.7

Fresco Gelateriahttp://frescogelateria.com/Astor PlaceShared the chocolate & salted caramel with my husband. Delicious! Really strong flavors, and even though we went traditional, there were some other interesting flavors too. Creamy and not too soft. Would go back if in the area!7

Mikey Likes Ithttp://www.mikeylikesiticecream.com/East Village199 AVENUE AWe met Mikey! Super chill dude. Obviously it was a bit slow in December, but he was still open and let us try most of his flavors. I got the Foxy Brown since I can now have caffeinated ice cream (!!)- yes baby has arrived! And it was delicious! Some of his other flavors were a bit too much for me and ice cream was slightly icy in some bites but honestly that could be because it was 14 degrees outside.7

Meatball Shophttps://www.themeatballshop.com/Around the cityIce cream sandwiches, and daily rotating flavors! Went with a friend after work, and ordered the choc chip cookie with chocolate ice cream. Delicious. Hard to finish it was so big! Tried a bite of the brown sugar ice cream and loved that flavor too! Not too sweet. So sad the Meatball Shop closed on the UWS.7

Davey's Ice Cream https://www.daveysicecream.com/East Village137 1st AvenueSimple, homemade ice cream, the peppermint chip and salted caramel were the best (although too salty for me). Also tried the cookies & cream, nutella chip & s'mores but didn't love them. Madison went for a double scoop and dropped his ice cream on the street!!! Luckily Davey's was super understanding and gave him a new cone. I wouldnt trek all the way to the LES for this ice cream. It was a bit overpriced for the quality. Apparently they're known for pie shakes but that seemed a little too indulgent!6.5

Sundaes and Coneshttp://sundaescones.com/contact_us.htmEast Village95 E 10th StreetVery colorful ice cream display with a lot of flavors. Pistachio almond was good but I went wit my default favorite - chocolate peanut butter. It was a bit icy and the peanut butter was too frozen (in thin strips that cracked) and not creamy. Cute shop, but wouldn't make it a destination.6
15
Creamlinehttp://www.creamlinenyc.com/Chelsea Chelsea MarketSimple and satisfying. Had the choc PB shake twice and it's smooth and goes down easy. Chocolate isn't rich but flavors are great together. Tried a taste of the ginger ice cream which was interesting and would definitely not want a whole scoop of it. Sweet with actual dried pieces of ginger in it. 6

For all the hype, I was pretty disappointed. I'm not a hug soft serve fan, but even with the hard shell and nuts added I could barely finish it. Go here for the photo with the names that make you giggle so you can cross it off your list and then next time just go to Van Leeuwans.5

Victory GardenWest VillageStreet CartTried the salted caramel and honey lavender made with earl grey tea. Goats milk was an interesting thing to try but they overcompensated with adding sugar - the honey lavender was hard to get down it was so sweet. Salted caramel tasted alright but I definitely prefer cows milk. Giving this a 5 because it wasn't bad. Just not my cup o tea.5

OddFellows Ice Cream Cohttp://www.oddfellowsnyc.com/Soho / Williamsburg175 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249Flavors all sounded interesting, but when I tried them, I would not want a full scoop. Ended up with PB&J and Chocotorta. PB&J was way too sweet. They definitely have a lot of sugar in their base and it's a really soft consistency, almost like a gelato but lighter. Really didn't enjoy it! Also tried banana puddin' and Coconut Kafir Lime Leaf and they were too overpowering. The coconut was grainy too. They have so many rotating flavors! Really too bad the flavors were too strong. Went on a hot day and my ice cream was a milk consistency within minutes.5

Mo Gelatohttp://mogelato.com/Closed now!Closed now!So Im not the biggest gelato fan. The gelato here was too warm and very sweet. I wouldn't seek out this place. I tried the pistachio and was underwhelmed. Also, it's closed now!4

Cones Ice Cream Artisanno websiteWest Village 272 Bleecker St,For a place named "Cones" it was odd they didn't have fun cones. Tried the corn flavor because why not! It was good, they serve it with cinnamon but decided to go with chocolate and peanut butter caramel, because that's my jam. It wasn;t memorable enough to go back, especially in a neighborhood full of flavor.4

Seduttohttp://kosheradvantage.com/sedutto/Upper East Side1st Ave & 78thThis place gets a low rating for two reasons: 1. customer service. We were ignored for a few minutes by the man behind the counter who didn't even respond when we said hello. I asked for a tase of their peanut butter cookie. He gruffly handed it to me without a word. We didn't talk after that as I ended up leaving without ordering anything. I can't understand poor customer service and I don't regret not trying anything else because my secodn reason is that the cookies in the ice cream tasted super stale. Bummer!2

Milk Barhttp://milkbarstore.com/main/stores/Chelsea / everywhere220 8th ave, ny 10011
corner of 21st st
Had the birthday cake shake. Two sips and threw it out. WAY TOO SWEET. Icy particles. Consistency of vomit. Seriously disgusting. The only reason I'd go back is to try the soft serve which apparently is good. But damn. That was gross.1

Chloe'schloesfruit.comEast Village25 E 17th StOkay, so this is hard to measure against dairy ice cream. For being a very healthy option, it's amazing how great Chloe's tastes. I had the banana/chocolae swirl with choc chips and it was really refreshing. It doesn't compare to real ice cream though! Not really fair to rank it but worth a try!

La Newyorkinahttp://lanewyorkina.com/sweet-treats/mexican-ice-cream/West Village and High Line240 Sullivan Street, NY, NY 10024 and between 17 and 18th street on Highline

Tried the pink limeaid pop from their High Line location which was refreshing! Not ice cream though, so not going to include this stop in my ratings. They do have ice cream at theirnwest village location though...
