Working with your Lender during COVID-19 - The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to impact communities across the country and the broader economy. The coronavirus outbreak will have impacts on farmers and the lenders who loan money to them. There has been an increased demand on lender financing as banks are being asked to be the primary lender to small businesses under the SBA loan program delivery for PPP (Paycheck Protection Program). Deals are being done despite infrastructure disruptions, such as email and signing of paperwork digitally. Here is some advice and steps to consider when communicating with your lender during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The subject of this video is a no-till cool-season livestock & wildlife forage demonstration, in Gulf County. There are a number of ag extension agents across the state that have participated with state specialists and landowners to implement this past season’s demonstrations. The finale of this demonstration trial in Gulf County would have been a field day in April. However, with the threat of COVID-19, the next best alternative was a virtual experience.

With COVID-19 causing reduced operations at many pork processing facilities, pig farmers are experiencing a backlog of pigs on farms causing them to look for alternative market options. One option is for a farmer to sell alive pig directly to a consumer and for the pig to be butchered by a small scale meat processor. Problem is many local meat processors are booked out for months causing people to butcher the pig themselves. This video shows people how to butcher a pig for home use, including human safety, pig welfare and food safety.
