He could still certainly improve and is not close to the level of Bryce Young from the class before him, but he often throws receivers into open space, even if it forces them to favorably adjust their routes based on what the defense is allowing.

He knows how to take care of the football under pressure, knows when to throw it away, and understands situationally when he must attempt to extend the play. He could have more poise at times, but his decisiveness and decision-making under pressure are top-notch.
44		Progressions	89	He goes through his progressions appropriately, but is not asked to do so much in this offense. When outside of the pocket, his ability to scan the field suffers slightly, but he does still often find the open man. From a clean pocket in a more pro-style offense, Bo Nix may have more of a learning curve when determining how long to stay on each read and exactly where to look next.

He could make more adjustments on the fly based on what he sees, but it is difficult to know exactly what he is permitted by the coaches to change on the field at Oregon.

On 64 passing attempts under pressure in 2023, he has only one turnover worthy play, an adjusted completion percentage of 80.0%, 36 first downs, and a passer rating of 131.4. His PFF grade of 91.5 under pressure is unfathomable, and this grade would only be higher if he had better progression and kept his eyes deeper downfield when rolling out of the pocket to evade pressure.

He usually knows when he is about to get hit, but he also will bail early from a clean pocket at times and make plays more difficult than they need to be.

56	Throwing Mechanics	Lower Body	68	He tends to fade away from passes far too frequently when there is no need, and he looks afraid to climb the pocket at times. His touch with his upper body on passes under 20 yards out is so stellar that he abandons his lower body at times. His arm talent is superior to his typical downfield velocity, and can improve if he works on using his base to generate more power behind his throws downfield.
57		Upper Body	94	His release is incredibly clean, even when his fundamentals appear off. His windup is quick, allowing him to hit quick timing throws with accuracy and appropriate touch anywhere across the field. His shoulders do not always look perfect on shorter passes, but his consistency in delivering the football with excellent placement and the appropriate velocity negate any potential concern stemming from his upper body mechanics. If he learns to drive power from his lower body and begins his throwing motion with more hip rotation from a clean pocket, then he would have an easier time generating torque with his shoulders, thus making his upper body mechanics appear more consistent.
58		Touch	97	His touch is superb, and he throws an extremely catchable ball. The only reason this grade is not higher is because his high-end velocity on tight window throws is simply not as impressive as some other stronger prospects, thus slightly limiting the range on potential types of throws.
59	Accuracy	Short	98	Nix rarely misfires and leads his receivers appropriately on screens and touch passers. His throws are easy to catch and almost always thrown at an optimal velocity depending on the play design. Nix had an adjusted completion percentage of 93.3% on all throws under 10 yards out, including only one uncatchable ball on 131 attempts behind the line of scrimmage in 2023.
60		Intermediate	93	His placement and touch 10-20 yards out is highly impressive the majority of the time. He does occasionally have some ball placement inconsistencies, particularly when on the move, but nothing too concerning.
61		Deep	85	His deep ball is often beautiful, but it does have too much air at time. He also does not always lead his receivers perfectly down the sideline. A lot of this stems from suboptimal lower body mechanics, and Nix could still easily become a great deep ball passer in the NFL based on the splash plays he showed on film.

67	Bo Nix is a highly consistent distributor who has noticeably improved in each of his five years starting at the college level. The 24-year-old has over 2000 dropbacks throughout the last five seasons, and really broke out in 2023. His command of the offense stood out this year, as he was much smarter when reading the field before the snap and making adjustments accordingly. He operated the quick timing Oregon offense extremely well, averaging only 2.44 seconds to throw. His touch and ball placement make him highly enticing, especially over the middle of the field. He plays with excellent anticipation, fully understanding where the defense will be and often leading his receivers into open space even when it is unintuitive. His ability to stay calm and collected in the face of pressure and take care of the football may be the best in class, and there is no doubt that he could operate an NFL west coast offense at a very high level. Nix often gets knocked for having easy quick-timing one read plays while being surrounded by talent. In 2023, over 28% of his passes were behind the line of scrimmage. While players can only work with what they have, this quick timing offense in combination with a talented supporting cast may have contributed to his tendency of sticking on the first read a bit too long. When he is asked to perform traditional dropbacks, he goes through his progressions rather smoothly and can often find the open target. That said, he may have to scramble to find the time to do so, and often will bail out of the pocket unnecessarily. While he is athletic enough to do so and makes excellent decisions under pressure, he has significant room to grow when it comes to his poise in general. He often abandons his lower body mechanics in the face of pressure, and will fade back when making throws to avoid getting hit. His passes never seem to flutter, but this does occasionally reduce some much desired velocity on intermediate and deeper throws. If Nix lands in a quick timing system where he can use his intelligence to read the field and take what is given, then he should become a very competent NFL quarterback. The high-end traits may be lacking, but he certainly has the athleticism, build, and strength to become one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL if he reaches his ceiling. He is a highly consistent player when it comes to decision-making and protecting the football, and is as close to a safe prospect as you can get at the quarterback position. He may not be that big swing that teams are looking for at the top of the draft, but his tape and reliability still leave him with a top 10 grade.
