10/23/2015 16:55:18"Critical Maps: Making and Interpreting Maps for Historical, Literary, and Social Research." We could discuss some tools and projects for "thick" (i.e. richly contextual) mapping in the humanities and social sciences.

Some examples of things we might look at include:

http://web.uvic.ca/~mvp1922/arguing-through-archival-objects-a-z-axis-method-for-3-d-printed-interpretation/

http://maps.nypl.org/warper/

or we could open up Google Earth and learn how to use historical imagery, animation, and other features within the application's API or using customized GIS encoding

I'd be happy to lead this or co-lead with anyone who might be interested.~Nick Wasmoen (nlwasmoe@buffalo.edu or @nwasmoen)
