TACG is an agile gaming hack of the "Trial by Trolley™" game, Explosm LLC and Skybound. The original "Trial by Trolley" is a party game of moral dilemmas and trolley murder.
We transferred it to the Agile Context: As an Agile Coach or Scrum Master, which team you would sacrifice (kill) in a given dysfunctional behaviour? - By which options do you decide?
The Game Idea
A streetcar is in front of an junction. The conductor has to choose the track: left or right.
The moral dilemma: on the right track there is a baby buggy with 6 infants, on the left track is a car with two grandmothers. -- Which track should the conductor choose to drive through?
It's the players challenge (two opposite teams) to convince the conductor to choose the other track and to sacrifice his/her own team.
According to the conductor's decision to kill a team the dead team gets a death-token. The player with the less death-tokens wins.
We adopted this idea to Agile Coaches/Scrum Masters moral dilemma: in a given situation resp. given dysfunctional team behaviour - which team should you sacrifice? - By which options you decide?
Innocent Cards: Morally neutral cards. They open the game.
Guilty Cards: Cards to set the opponent in a confronted view.
Modifier Cards: Cards to modify the own or the opponent view.
To print the cards: I layoutet each table as 2xN. This allows you to print each table on predefined (Avery) cardboard label stickers.
On Reddit.com you find a description to print Trial by Trolley custom cards: https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/comments/hd7njx/trial_by_trolley_printable_custom_cards_and/
1.) Play the game in multiple rounds.
2.) Per round the conductor role is moved clock-wise and the two teams split appropriately: all players right from the conductor (team A) and all players left of her (team B).
3.) At the beginning the conductor draws two "innocent" cards: one for the left and one for the right track each.
Now, each team has to convince the conductor to not kill the own team, i.e. to choose the other track.
Thus, each team pick cards:
4.) Each team pick as much "guilty" cards as they have team members. -- After this, each team select from all their "guilty" cards the "most powerful one" to convince the conductor to choose the opposite way. The team put the cards on the opposite team track.
5.) Each team pick as much "modifier" cards as they have team members. -- Each team select from all their "modifier" cards that one which would best modify either one of their own or one of the opposite team's cards to influence the conductor's decision.
6.) Now it's up to the conductor to decide which track to follow -- and which team to kill. Each player of the killed team gets a death-token. After all rounds played the player with the less death-tokens wins.
Alternative way to play:
a.) After the conductor placed the two "innocent" cards, each team picks an "innocent" card as well and place it behind the conductor's card.
b.) Then follow the instruction above: each team picks as much "guilty" cards as it has team members, and they place the "most powerful one" after the two innocent cards on either their own or the opposite track.
The difference: decision-making is based on either more "innocent" or more "guilty" evidences. -- Decide what fits your agile team situation best ;-)
At Play4Agile 2020 - 10th anniversary (#p4a20, #p4aten) we hacked and framed the original game "Trial by Trolley" to the agile coaching context.

...and we had a lot of fun while playing this hack to create the most immoral tweaks to get the conductor sweating!
Feel free to add your suggestions for new cards!
* Enter new cards in the proper table (sheet tabs).
* To propose alternative text for a card, use the cell's comment function (Strg+Alt+M). Separate alternative options by a dashed line "-----".
Vote the cards
To help us to create the most awesome game, please vote the cards provided in the sheet tabs: "innocent", "guilty", modifier".
Place the following symbols by Cut-n-Paste in top line of a card.
★ : a positive vote; only one star per reviewer and card. A card gets multiple stars by multiple reviewers only!
◒ : the card needs rework (unfunny description).
A) There is an online version of this game: http://bit.ly/TheAgileCoachGame-Online.
B) The tables contain the text for the cards only. Olaf Bublitz will provied (funny) Graphics of scenes and tracks. --- Voluteers are heavily welcomed, pls contact Olaf!!
