Gary1.3p2stevenI can't repro this with latest vs_revamp on VS2005 using his testcase. Not sure what's going on. Maybe batch-build related?
10
Gregouch, 1.3?p2StevenI had no joy trying to reproduce with the wrong toolset, but if he's right, this is a serious regression that should be fixed at once (i.e., it should not be propagated into 2.0).

Steven1.3p1stevendefinitely batch builder. I think I already fixed it in r3906 on 19 January 2009. I updated the issue to see if he can try the latest from trunk.

Steven2.xp3?Seems reasonable, but not high priority. We should invite him to submit a patch himself when we update the issue.

GarySteven: scons.org is freebsd. I'll try it there...(/gary goes and does it...) yes, I can repro it on scons.org with scons trunk and python 2.6. BTW, I checked out a source tree into ~/src/scons/trunk for this. Is 35MB too much to leave on scons.org now? I think it's OK...
49
GregIt's still funky, but I have no suggestions.

StevenWONTFIXanyonewe should remove the dead links from www.scons.org, of course. but we were advised not to try to generate our own .deb packages, so the issue itself is a WONTFIX. (it would be a good idea to maybe add a FAQ or other entry about this .deb packaging policy)

Gary1.3p2GaryI'll do this, per Steven's method. I agree no new test case is needed because it would be hard to write one.

Greg2.1p2???Good idea. Looks simple. I have no idea how to test it, either.

Steven1.3p2anyoneActually, shutil.move() does exactly what he's suggesting: tries os.rename() first and catches the OSError. So we should just call shutil.move()!

Gary2.xp3Can't we just init CPPDEFINES to a CLVar()? I've always found this annoying.
