Marin Community Fridges: Sunday AIM Market Support
Thanks in advance for your support of Marin Community Fridges! The Sunday AIM Market is an important part of how we get fresh
food donations from farmers and community members & stock the fridges each week. Its also a great place for the broader community to learn
about Marin Community Fridges.

How does it work?
Participating vendors put up signs encouraging shoppers to buy "extra" for the fridges. Those purchases are left with the vendors and picked up
at the end of the market by volunteers like you, who then sort them, deliver them, and fill up the fridges with them! Farmers may also choose
to donate extra of their own depending on their supply that day, then each Sunday the fridges are filled with a bounty of food.

What do volunteers do?
Participating volunteers build relationships, get the word out, collect donations, and deliver and fill the fridges!

Role Descriptions

Market Point person/people
8-2p An experienced volunteer who can answer questions, help educate on the fridges, and act as a point of contact for AIM.
This person will also run trainings for new volunteers, and pick up/bring market items. They can also sign up for collection/driver.

Set up & Flyer
8-9a.These volunteers arrive at 8a when the market opens. Help set up our table, get flyers & tape from the Market Point Person,
and go through the market checking in with each of the vendors on our list of participants. The farmers and market workers are
awesome! Use this time to get to know them, see if there are any updates, check to make sure they have a flyer
(most folks reuse week after week), and offer to put it up for them.
*Please print or download the participating vendor list before arriving.

Tabling
8-12p. It's ideal if someone doing set up also takes on tabling. A great opportunity to raise awareness and answer peoples
questions about the Marin Community Fridges and how mutual aid works. Hang out and answer questions. It's a good idea to
know the fridge locations which are also written on the sign we put up at the table. The website is a great place to go through
info in case folks have questions you need help answering: marincommunityfridges.info

Collection & Delivery
12-2p Volunteers will meet up at the MCF table (next to the AIM tent). It's helpful to have the participating vendor sheet printed or on
your phone. Volunteers work in pairs, divide up and each pair takes a chef's cart up the aisle checking in with each participating vendor on the list. Let them know youre with The Marin Community Fridges and ask if they have any donations today?
Many will ask that we come back closer to 1 or 1:15p. Please note down who you need to return to. After collecting you can drop items back at the table. Volunteers will split up donations up into three piles (using the table or carts) in order to bring a good variety of what's been donated to each of the three fridges. At about 130p when all donations have come in, then volunteers can help the drivers load up. Important NOT to double park.

When you deliver and stock the fridge, please take a minute first to remove any spoiled foods, tidy it up, and then stock it in a
way that looks bountiful and delicious :) When you're done please remove any trash from premises, don't leave any boxes on site,
take a picture and send it to the market point person for the day.

Guidelines from AIM:
Participating at the Farmers Market means following the guidelines from AIM, the organization that runs the market.
If you need more information on anything just email marincommunityfridges@gmail.com

The onsite table is for raising awareness, engaging the community, and storing/sorting donations.
- We are asked not to accept food donations at the table (unless a vendor is dropping donations off)
- We are asked not to give out food from the table (you can direct interested folks to our fridge locations)
- We are asked to follow traffic safety and not bring any cars into the market area or double park behind our table.
Have no fear, we are encouraged to use the “chef’s carts” which make it easy to transport and other volunteers can help you load up.

We are always building relationships with the market vendors and learning more about how and when they can participate.
Please reference the participating vendor list to know where to put up signs and who to check in with during collections.

No need to ask non-participating vendors to put up signs or for donations. They have likely already had a conversation with one of
our volunteers and have their own reasons for not participating. Should any vendor approach you with questions or interest, of course share more
on what we do and grab them a sign if they request one.

We are not the only organization collecting food at the market. Because of that it’s important that we’re clear with vendors which
organization we are. Helpful tip: always introduce yourself as being a part of the Marin Community Fridges. If anyone from another
organization approaches you with specific questions - please direct them to the AIM booth where they can give more details about
how the various organizations at the market participate.

Want to bring others to participate?! Awesome. Feel free to send this link.
