5 | We are often asked if we can verify that a certain person was present in the Temple of Music on the day that William McKinley was shot at the Pan-American Exposition, September 6, 1901. Here is our best attempt, using period and secondary sources, to identify as many people as possible who were present at critical events from the day McKinley was shot to the day of his funeral. We omitted the Erie County Hall event on September 15, 1901, when McKinley's body lay in state, because thousands of people paid their respects that day and there is no way to identify them all. | |
