Rules:
16
17
If a wrestler defeats another wrestler on the list, s/he grabs their opponent's spot on the list and pushes
18
them, and everybody below them, down a spot. A victory could constitute a pinfall, submission, count-out,
19
DQ, elimination or any other form of ‘victory’. In multi-person singles' matches such as triple threats, this is
20
complicated: any match decision where one wrestler defeats another should be rewarded as above. In
21
matches such as a ladder match where there is no definitive loser, the winner should climb above all of
22
his/her opponents.
23
24
Counting the date of their match as the first, wrestlers have five WWE television weeks to defend their spot
25
in a match valid to that division. If they do not have a match in that time, they will vacate their position
26
and those below them will move up. (Singles rankings require singles matches, tag rankings require tag
27
matches). If the fifth week elapses with no relevant match, the wrestler will lose their spot on the list and the
28
others will shift up a spot, if appropriate. For NXT, owing to their less-frequent matches, wrestlers have nine
29
weeks to defend their spot.
30
31
Vacant positions on the list will be filled by a winning wrestler on the next appropriate card, even if they
32
don’t beat a member of the current ranking. If there are two vacant positions, preference will be given to
33
the wrestler who wins a match higher on the card (e.g. a main event win will take preference over a
34
curtain-jerker)
35
36
Rankings will only be taken from televised WWE matches, not house shows or non-roster tournament
37
shows (such as Mixed Match Challenge or the Cruiserweight Classic). Dark matches or un-televised main
38
events will not be taken into account because of their house-show level of kayfabe. Cross-brand matches
39
such as Royal Rumble, AtGMBR or Survivor Series matches will only affect the rankings if both eliminator
40
and eliminated wrestlers are on the same roster. The only exceptions to this rule are free agents.
41
42
For tag teams, we will use The Freebird Rule: a team, as long as it has a name or identity, can change its
43
members for defences. So, for example, The New Day will be a solid entity on the list despite the actual
44
wrestlers who perform in the match changing. Finally, cruiserweight tag teams and women’s tag teams
45
will not be taken into account whatsoever. Since there are no championships for these divisions, I find that
46
no team lasts long enough to put together a good Top 10 run.
47
48
The order of cards/matches for each week will be thus: PPV (inc. pre-show), Main Event/Raw, SmackDown
49
Live, 205 Live, NXT. (Even though Main Event is broadcast later in the week, I consider it as a Raw
50
pre-show so it is taken as part of the same card. Conversely, even though NXT is recorded in bulk, I’ll log
51
this in broadcast order. Usually, this makes no difference, but I don’t like looking at spoilers and it means
52
there’s something to do each week.)
