7 | 2025 was a great year for BoI Bowling Club From the start of the League, we remained in contention and our penultimate match results brought us to the top of the leaderboard with Crumlin BC just 2.5pts behind in 2nd place. Our last match was crucial and we needed to take more than 2.5pts against the formidable Ierne BC to win the Cup. Monday 15/09/25 the stage was set with Peter Woods, Vincent Fagan and John Lee skipping the teams. Peter’s team got off to a flying start and had a commanding 14 shot lead by the 10th end. Vincent’s team held a 2.75 shot lead but alas John’s team was 1.75 shots behind. BOIBC had a 15 shot overall and was on track. Ierne put up a brave fight and by the 15th end had reduced the overall to 3.25 shots, all their teams winning the 15th end. Going into the 16th end Peter’s team was 8 shots up, Vincent’s team 2.75 shots up and John’s down 7.5 shots. We needed to maintain the overall and win on at least one rink. Peter and Vincents teams won their 16th ends, but the overall was not secured. John’s team had not won the previous 7 ends but pulled out all the stops and won their 16th end by 3 shots. The overall was secured; BOI BC won the match 4-1. Well done and congratulations to everyone who contributed! Next time, let’s not leave it to the last end of the last game to win! 12 | However, Ierne put up a brave fight and by the 15th end had reduced the overall to 3.25 shots, all their teams winning the 15th end. Going into the 16th end Peter’s team was 8 shots up, Vincent’s team was 2.75 shots up and Johns team was down 7.5 shots. If Ierne’s trend continued they could take the overall and win the match 3-2. John’s team had not won the previous 7 ends but pulled out all the stops and won the end by 3 shots. The overall was secured; BOI BC won the match 4-1. Well done and congratulations to BOIBC.
